Danger don't purchase the polaris razor ranger ATV
Hello,
I just got my new polaris ranger razor atv and it is a law suit just waiting to happen. We are talking moving death trap. I have put 8km on the unit. Anyways if you bring it up to maximum speed upon when the govenor kicks in and release the gas pedal; the back tires lock up causing you to either go into a spin out or worse automatic flip end over end.
This happened to me twice in a row. The first time I thought my 3 year old son grabbed the shifter and knocked it into low but the second time it happened while we were driving down a straight away with my hand guarding the shifter. As soon as I let go of the gas pedal the tires locked up and we flipped head over heals, scared the crap out of my kid. But the roll cage & safety harnesses get grade 'A' +++. However it was pure luck nobody died or got hurt.

Dump your Polaris stock cause we are talking major law suit.

If the back tires lock up, why does it flip end for end when traveling forward?

Re: Danger don't purchase the polaris razor ranger ATV
i don't ride ATVs, my nephew who is still 11 has something like 4 of them INCLUDING a polaris, i hope his parents know what the hell they're doing with this kid but i don't think so. apparently he can ride any trail in any place he wants [in NY] and as recklessly as he wants for as long as he wants, because his helmet confers magic protective properties.

if you and a friend are in an ATV accident and the friend is badly hurt, YOU don't have a prayer to avoid a huge lawsuit unless that machine is proven defective. the fact that many underage riders operate these ATVs only makes this liability worse. i would not want to sign the deed of my house to a law firm just so some bored kids could race around on these infernal contraptions.

must not have a very fun life cloud. maybe you should teach the kid how to respect their machine instead of putting the blame on everything else.

Re: Danger don't purchase the polaris razor ranger ATV
Actually there was a re-call on the first batch of razors that went out. Something was wrong with the linkage in the shifter causing the transmission to drop into reverse simply by vibration. The razor has had a couple of recalls by the way, the air filter was put in a bad place.
I've had lota of fun with my razor. It's fully loaded, rolled a couple of times, thank God for roll bars.

Re: Danger don't purchase the polaris razor ranger ATV
So you think it's ok to just take it to max power with your 3yr old in it with you, not only once, but two times???? WTF? I think the lawsuit would be on your tail buddy. You never should have had your child in that machine after the first incident, and then you have the balls to yell about almost killing him. Maybe you should step back and think about who you should be pointing the finger at, it sure isn't Polaris. I do agree that the machine definately isn't safe, but neither is the fact that you put your own child in that kind of situation not only once, but twice. I bet your wife kicked your butt too. rant

With a video not only could you sue but sell your story to someone like MTV's JackAss.

Nothing wrong with a little double dutch action. Also, you might want to increase all the life insurances and triple indemnify.

Just make sure you name Trinity as your beneficiary.

As with any product, you have to be smarter than what you're working with. With that said, I love my razor. Hooray for the guy who said he was 47 yrs old. I'm 57 yrs old and I've played in the dirt in northern Michigan since I was a kid. Heck, I even owned a Honda pilot. My mom still owns one of the Honda oddeseys. If you're looking to sue polaris, I say shame on you. That's probably how you could afford one in the first place. Thanks for reading this and "You go Polaris," continue to make those fine American Machines. rrp

Sadly not all the machine is made in the USofA.

Not all the engineering is done in the USofA.

I'm glad you like the product but realize it is "assembled" in the USofA. Big difference from being made in the USofA.

Re: Danger don't purchase the polaris razor ranger ATV
LEMON LEMON LEMON LEMON--I agree that no one should buy a Polaris Razor, but for different reasons. I purchased this piece of junk May 25 2007. I have only 50 hours on the razor. It has been at the Polaris dealership for repairs for over 2000 hours (and counting). There are no parts available so when something breaks the Razor sits at the Polaris dealership for week after week. In my 50 hours of riding thus far (1) front differential, (2) rear spring retainers, (2) stabilizer bar rods (they came from Polaris mounted wrong),(1)front hub, (1) steering arm (which polaris would not warranty because I had to make my own repair to get it back to the truck),and (1) rear driveshaft, has broken. The frame and drivetrain components are far too weak to handle the engine. STAY AWAY FROM THE RAZOR!!!

For the record, I own a Polaris Hawkeye and a Victory Vision which are very reliable and well built.

first of all learn to drive, second leave your kid at home running wide open, third the rzr has a trans brake that is very handy but you have to use common since wile operating wide open. i have had my rzr for about 8 months and have pushed it to its limit many time but havent rolled it at all. but thats the key, learn the limits. i have so many performance upgrades and can run well over 70 mph but havent even come close to rolling it. and you say you flipped end over end when the back tires locked up.??? sound like you slammed on the brakes for some reason and if you didnt know, they dont come with anti-lock brakes. just learn to drive buddy and dont blow your money on a lawyer, you will lose. buy utv driving lessons much cheaper and you will get a lot more out of it.

POLARIS IS THE BEST HANDLING MACHINE ON THE MARKET due to mac pherson strutt suspension.

I have a Polaris 500 magnum 4x4 that has the same trans/engine breking feature as the Razor, and I love it. Saves on brake shoes and takes the work out of going downhill. My other machine is a highly modified Polaris Trail blazer with a stock polaris liquid cooled {ported and polished )400cc two stroke making around 70hp, and it will outhandle and perform any of the stock Jap machines. You have to be a real numbut to flip ass over teakettle, maybe ATV's arent you're cup of tea op. It helps to have common sense when operating any machinery, and you clearly do not..

You can't expect to go buy an atv and be an instant expert, and the op's story makes t appear as if thats exactly what he thought. It took me many years of riding to become an expert rider.

Better hope no one calls the CPS on ya there numbnuts.

My cousin's husband and his friend were killed on the RZR800 end of April this year. It rolled end over end down an embankment. They both worked for the fire department, were off duty, and had gone for a few hours of "fun"...never to return. The families and community are devestated.
