Record Southwestern USA Heatwave Possible!
[link to ontarioweatherservice.com]

The Ontario Weather Service is going to call a heatwave event. Records may be smashed in spots. Big Bear Lake's 94-95 degree record may be smashed by a 100 degree reading on July 4, 2007! High pressure building in will be centered over Northwest Arizona. This will put us in a huge ridge folks. These heights will allow 100 degree readings in the higher mountain elevations!
Palm Springs may go over 120 degrees, and well you had it over at Havasu and Blythe, with over 125 possible. Inland Empire areas could hit 110. The best spots to go will be the beach. Onshore flow will allow for cooling there, and it should stay in the 80's. Still hot, however areas a few miles inland from the beach could hit over 100 if the wind flow is just right.
Will reflect on this as the heatwave approaches.
Get out to the beach during this time! This is your relief window.
Please prepare yourselves if you are in the areas where the heat will occur.
As for Tehachapi Town. You guys will very well be into the 90's and close to 100 in spots as well. Very dangerous situation, and do not be caught off guard.
If you are traveling to the Central Valley on I-5 do not think you will escape the heat. The Central Valley will bake over 110+ Degrees as well.
This is your first forecast for these temperatures. More will follow in a couple days for the final thoughts. Please return to this section for your update.

Saying the southwest is going to get a heat wave in the beginning of July is like saying... well you get the picture

Re: Record Southwestern USA Heatwave Possible!
A nice little high pressure system is just about to settle in on all the western states over the next week. Temps well into the triple digits for the Fourth of July. On my forecast tonight, I didn't go 100 here until Friday, but regardless, it's gonna be hot and dry. Not good news for the droughts.

Astral, no, it's most def not. The heatwave is going to be significant, reaching the Central Valley with maybe 115 degrees in spots, and Big Bear Lake, at 7,000 Feet, maybe 100. This is the OWS forecast, and I think it will be nailed.

Again, It is not my care or concern if you have no interest in my forecasts. You think i'm going to cry mommy and run away screaming because YOU don't. Others do appreciate it, and that is all that matters. This heatwave will be dangerous to all of Central California as well. This is terrible. Any message you reply back negative will be ignored from now on. Now that you know that I don't give a damn what you think of me, maybe you'll shut up.

Re: Record Southwestern USA Heatwave Possible!
thanks Kevin. I live in the southwest though not in the areas you mentioned. We have been hot lately though that is not unusual. Keep posting, you have been spot on so far.

There are people in these areas who cannot afford to run the AC 24/7(which is what we have to do now) this isnt just summer fun dudes.

In Phoenix recently and many low income homes have evaportative coolers, except now Phoenix is so humid those coolers dont do crap but make your house hot and muggy.

125 degrees......!!!! um yes but of course that a happy summer temp....sheesh you guys

and..?

so it gets into the single digits in Colorado and minus 50 or some crap in Alaska in the winter. The Persian gulf has more than likely got you beat at about a 140 degree heat index. Yes, the heat index is real if you ever been somewhere with lots of heat and high humidity .. drip drip sweat.. drip drip sweat....

Well, it was 113 deg F today, but I don't believe the average summer highs so far for 2007 have been a record-breaker.

Yes these temps are going to be deadly. Why wouldn't I mention them?! I mean come on, It may be normal to some, but I think a warning is better than none. Vacation plans, etc. It may be normal for the people that live in these areas, but not to the people traveling. This is what OWS does, and why we issue the warnings. Heat warnings going up for Low and High Deserts, INCLUDING Hemet, AND Woodland Hills.

Thanks to all that understand what kind of a warning this is. You see, it's common, HOWEVER the high pressure will have a seriously HOT layer of air at 5,000 to 10,000 Feet. This will no doubt make temperatures at Big Bear Lake near 100 degrees. Record is 94 or 95. This could break it. This is what I mean by RECORD HEATWAVE. Sure not all records will be met or over, but some will.

Thanks
