Syria suffers power outages in major cities

Intermittent power-outages in Damascus and other major Syrian cities were caused in the last few days by increasing demand for electricity in the country, Israel Radio reported Sunday.

Syrian Prime Minister Naji el Atari called on Electrcitiy Minister Ahmad Ali to take the measures necessary to maintain a steady supply of power.

The prime minister was also called for a special parliamentary session devoted to the electricity crisis. Atari explained the power outages were caused by the lack of sufficient reserves in the country's power infrastructure, the current heat wave and a decline in the Euphrate River's flow, which is one of the main sources of Syria's electricity production.

LOL. Psychological warfare via portable EMP weapons to take down local power generation to instill fear in the general populace pre all out war.

The US cut it teeth using these new weapons in Iraq. Betcha we gave the Israeli's a few to test out.

Industrial plants and nuclear plants use water as cooling. Water is used for irrigation. And for electricity generation. Besides human and cattle source of drinking and waste-disposal. With increased heat the weight on this cycle increases and it collapses. With time the collapses will grow in intensity. Welcome to the new wrecked world order. NWWO

The decline in water flow for hydro-electric would certainly create a power problem that would not normally exist in the summer time, even with all the AC's and fans running. Of course a well developed infrastructure for the entire Southwest Asia would alievate a good deal of that sort of problem.
