Being wrong, and admitting it -- how do the religions rate?
Hisotircally, let's remember
when hindsight showed a religion was wrong
about something and when they
actually admitted having been wrong.
(Religious opinions do not count here -- only
real world mistakes.)
(It's a grid to fill in with words and X's)

Was wrong about ____|| and Admitted it

Catholic

Lutheran

Baptist

Jewish
(orthodox)

Jewish
(liberal)

Sunni Islam

Shiite Islam

Sufi Islam

Hindu

Buddhist

Wicca

The Catholic Church now admits it was wrong about the Galileo thing, Earth/Sun revolving etc. Right?

Amazing. We can only think of one religion, and they only admit one time being wrong.

I think the Catholic Church has apologised for the Inquisition, saying they now realise it was wrong to torture and burn the unbelievers.

The whore church (catholic church) has made the mistake of thinking they are "the church" that Jesus set up during his time on earth. Its about time they admit to being wrong & change their beliefs.

I am still waiting for the Christians to admit that Jesus really wasn't God.

Re: Being wrong, and admitting it -- how do the religions rate?
Aside from religious disputes, "I think" all religions have made some major errors.

In regard to the religious disputes above,
I will not deny Jesus is God. Yet I will not condemn someone who does not agree. To me, it is a reasonable scientific proposition like Newton's physics, although in
a sociological and metaphysical area that is not really
quite science.

Jesus is the God who affirms _You and Your importance. However, a lot of stuff was said after his story which confuses the issue.
If you knew what Ben Franklin did and what he said about Jesus, you would agree that Jesus' "topic area" deserves more respect than most of our pundits' analysis. Yet someone who denies Jesus' divinity does not have to be
considered an enemy at all. It is a topic for conversation and I think few understand it. For example, how can an atheist deny someone is God unless that atheist is also an expert on who or what God is? So you would have a conversation either way, and with nice manners, it could be a very good conversation..

There you go again! Calling someone atheist who believes God is a Supreme Being and not a man named Jesus. That's so wrong.

Sorry, while making an interesting statement, you have jumped to a conclusion which is not accurate.
Being an atheist does not limit one's beliefs to a narrow scope.
An atheist could believe Jesus is not God.
That is not the only kind of atheist, I realize, nor the only interest an atheist might have. Some of my heroes
have been atheists.
The question of Jesus' nature could lead to a respectful and mutually satisfying conversation for a believer and an atheist-- preferably both of them quite respectful and intelligent.

I'm a Christian and acknowledge that Jesus wasn't God.

He wasn't entirely human either though.

Re: Being wrong, and admitting it -- how do the religions rate?
Jesus' Father is God and the Father is unrelated to any other entity before or after.

When I found out what Yahweh REALLY was, I was disgusted with the Catholic Church I was schooled under for teaching that Yahweh and Jesus' Father are one and the same.

They truly are a Luciferian front.
