The reasons for the questions is to see if the official line is logical as it continues to be related to the public. If a report of no terrorism cause came out within minutes of the event occurring, then you would know it would be illogical to say that so soon if you could not get close to the source.
Steam will burn your skin, so you would have to stay totally away from the source til it was stopped before being able to get next to it to see what its apparent cause was. No one is saying it was terrorism or not. Questions asked and answered could tell us if the official line does not correlate. You can't investigate the point of a steam explosion and say you know what happened til you can get close enough. You can speculate, but that is just pure speculation. |

What are the odds of this happening in that location at that time of rush hour. Didn't it ever rain in New York City before? Why doesn't it happen more often. They say it happened a few years back but what about since then? It is the location and timing that raises my suspicians more than anything else. How easy would it be to drop a bomb down a manhole cover. |

Consider that 6 pm is 1800 hrs.
The blast took place a little before 6pm.
17.76 in hours = (.76 x 60) about 1745 hours (5:45 pm)
Pretty close to the eyewitness time of the blast. |

we have had similar explosions from water mains in San Francisco, but they never caused such a huge explosion as this one did and left a very small hole where the manhole cover blew off...
I am so sorry for New Yorkers, I love NYC and its people.... all this asbestos talk is very troublesome. How can you prevent breathing it if it is floating in the air? I would stay far away from midtown if I was you... |

With the talk of mininukes, it would be great if someone could test the air quality for it.
The air in NYC is constantly being tested for radioactivity. But what good does that do? You wouldn't beleive the results of the test anyway, unless it conformed to your already made up mind. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1373

I thought CNN said last night that those very pipes were inspected yesterday for condensation (prior to explosion) by the utility company that provides steam power access to NYC and they said that the pipes were functioning absolutely normally.
I'd love to see an employee dosier of everyone that works for that steam utility...
