This is complete bullshit, as 99% of what May says.
FOR PEOPLE READ CAPTAIN MAY'S REPORTS AND SITE THEY KNOW, THAT WHAT HAPPENED IN NEW YORK, REGARDING THE STEAM EXPLOSION, WAS WAY TO CANCEL WHAT THE OP WAS TALKING ABOUT.
IT WAS AN ABORT CODE.--TO LET THOSE IN THE KNOW THE EVENT WAS CANCELED.
THE SAME THING HAPPENED IN TEXAS CITY, TEXAS, WITH THE BRITISH PETROLEUM REFINERY. WHEN CAPTAIN MAY EXPOSED THE PLAN OF A NUKE, THE BASTARDS CAUSED A RELATIVELY HARMLESS EXPLOSION, AS WAY SAYING THE NUKE WAS CANCELED. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 268172

Maybe the OP knew 'something' was going to happen on that date and ASSUMED it would be major.

Excellent point after the recent London incident where they only discovered one of the vehicles was involved AFTER they had begun to tow it for being parked illegally.
However, I saw a photo (which is proof of nothing these days, I must admit), and based upon that photo, I would have a very difficult time believing that the vehicle being towed would have literally vaporized without killing SCORES of peoople, and also with leaving the tow truck intact.
But I do like your thought process. Well done, no one else mentioned this. Question everything and trust nothing blindly. |

The velocity of the event as it streched on and on and on made me think of a "controlled nuclear explosion" - as if a nuclear blast was bottled up and "slowly" released a bit at a time.
I don't believe that to be the case, but I was thinking it yesterday as I watched it roar out of the hole.
A mechanical engineer should be able to analyze this and make the connection back to the steam pressure in the lines in the streets.
Is it really under THAT much pressure? Amazing. |

This country is to the point now that if a flag pole falls over because of a gust of wind it's called an act of terrorism, it a simple fact that NYC steam pipe system is old and rotting and needs to be replaced,and until it is you can all expect to see more failures like that one on wednesday.  |

They are working on bringing in new laws in New York banning tripod photography and limiting tourist videos - at the time i thought, ohoh, they're planning something big and there will be no independant news witnesses, because they can arrest anyone who takes pictures under the laws which were already in place.

Just wanted to say that it seems strange that the pipe would be checked possibly twice in less than six weeks, considering the remarks from this article:

I know it says that some components are checked every six weeks, BUT it also says that steam mains specifically are basically not. I think this "coincidence" of checking the pipe before it exploded is definitely not one to be overlooked. At the very least, you would have to say that they must have been concerned about the condition of the pipe.
You make a good point...I'm sure they are setting up the reason for "details" of the explosion. It is also interesting that the "diagnosis" was so immediately available after the event. |

I still say get a mechanical engineer to confirm that the steam is under that amount of pressure. It's fairly amazing to me, but that's not to say it's not in the realm of possibility. I just want to hear someone say "yeah, that's normal". |

Actually, I think that the idea that a car that was being towed contained a car bomb, is a very smart one. There are a lot of car bombs in the ME. If one exploded here, that would be the president's "proof" that they had brought the terrorism over here. More reason to stay the course... Liars!

i don't know you guys, maybe they rigged the pipe to explode in a 'dry run' to see reaction times, people's responses, feasibility of the plan. and used the pipe so that it would not look like a terrorist act.
if it was a small bomb that could be detected by the city, then security might start figuring out what the big plan is.
the op said that shopping centers and certain areas are going to be targeted. maybe they are just getting the logistics down, will this work? will that work?
he may have phrased things wrong in his post that made it look like 'THE BIG ONE' was going to hit that day, but i think the intel was a little scrambled, and the real purpose of this run was that it was more of a little test to see if a technique to deliver the real deal was feasible.
perhaps they are going to be sliding nukes around and under the water pipes, maybe they were checking to see how easily one could been broken. maybe they screwed it up and broke it...did they find any dead agents under there? get horatio caine from csi.
i don't live in new york but do these things break often? i haven't really heard of this kind of situation before.
i realize nyc's infrastructure is really nasty and old. so certainly if something was bothered on purpose it might originally be thought to be failure with the pipes etc.
this could be someones biggest advantage, to find things that won't cause alarm. to test. for the big one.
or maybe there is more we don't know, do you really think they would say 'oh yeah there was explosives' especially if they were even in on it?
like the saying goes...
