I recently saw Rush Hour 3 and noted three peculiarities. These may simply be political statements. Without spoiling the film for those who haven't seen it, i'll be as vague as possible.
About 10 minutes into the movie, detective James Carter (Chris Tucker) is interrogating a suspected member of the Triad criminal gang. He holds a gun to the suspect's temple (after some comedic language translations). For about two seconds you can see that the serial/model number for the gun ends in '911'. I am certainly no expert on handguns, but this seemed odd.
About half-way through, a French taxi driver laments to Carter and Inspector Lee (Jackie Chan) that he "will never get to experience what it is like to be an American ... to kill someone for no reason at all."
Later Lee's evil 'brother' Kenji (Hiroyuki Sanada), starts a fight with him. He proclaims that he will kill Lee "by Ling chi ... death by a thousand cuts ... careful to avoid any major arteries so that he will die a slow, painful death." Shortly thereafter the ludicrous nature of that dramatic dialog is revealed.

Major 'bump' rips mine, stalls efforts to reach trapped miners
By Ben Winslow and Pat Reavy
Deseret Morning News

HUNTINGTON — Three rescuers were killed and six others injured when a major mountain "bump" hit inside the Crandall Canyon Mine, stalling an already frantic effort to reach six trapped miners.
The three men killed were Crandall Canyon miners trying to reach six of their co-workers now trapped for 12 consecutive days about 2,000 feet below ground.
"It is a devastating blow to what has already been a tragic situation," Price Mayor Joe Piccolo said.
Two of the injured were personnel of the Mine Safety and Health Administration, assisting in the rescue effort.
"Everything from some chest injuries to cuts and scrapes," said MSHA spokesman Rich Kulczewski. Authorities immediately suspended the underground rescue operations, which by Thursday had advanced a little more than 800 of the 2000 feet that are needed to go.
At 6:35 p.m. Thursday, an underground "bump" — seismic activity — hit inside the mine.
"It was very similar to the other bumps that we've had," Kulczewski said.
About 7 p.m., an ambulance raced up the canyon toward the mine. Four other ambulances arrived a short time later. They were followed by federal authorities, mine officials and police officers, who sped up the road toward the mine, looking grim-faced.
The rescue efforts inside the Crandall Canyon Mine have been dangerous and difficult. Pressure-shifting "bumps" inside the mine have created problems for rescuers trying to drill through debris to reach the chamber where the six men are believed trapped.
On Thursday morning, a shake partially buried a continuous mining machine, delaying the underground efforts. The University of Utah's seismograph stations reported a pair of seismic events early Thursday near the Crandall Canyon Mine. One was recorded at 12:40 a.m., registering 1.3 on the Richter scale. Another at 10:40 a.m. registered 1.5 in magnitude.
Mine owner Bob Murray has said the seismic activity has made the underground rescue efforts "disappointingly slow."
"The mountain is still alive, and the mountain is not allowing us to advance as rapidly as we would like to," he told reporters earlier Thursday.
The San Clemente church in the main plaza of the gritty fishing port of Pisco was perhaps the single deadliest spot in the magnitude-8 earthquake, which devastated cities and hamlets of adobe and brick across Peru's southern desert.
Hundreds had gathered in the pews of the San Clemente church Wednesday — the day Roman Catholics celebrate the Virgin Mary's rise into heaven — for a special mass marking one month since the death of a Pisco man.
The church ceiling began to break apart as the shaking began and lasted for an agonizing two minutes, burying 200 people, according to the town's mayor. On Thursday, only two stone columns and the church's dome rose from a giant pile of stone, bricks, wood and dust.
Pope Saint Clement I, the bishop of Rome from roughly 88 to 98. He is also called Clement of Rome and Clemens Romanus, is considered to be the fourth pope, after Anacletus, according to Catholic tradition. However, many sources also cite him as the second pope and successor to Peter, as the order of the popes is highly disputed. He is also considered one of the Apostolic Fathers.
He is commemorated on November 23 in the Roman Catholic Church
The Roman Church claimed that Clement was ordained by St. Peter

Chainsaw explosion sets man afire, sparks blaze
By GENE ZALESKI
Friday, August 17, 2007
The owner of the Charleston Highway Citgo Express Lane was working with a chainsaw Wednesday afternoon when the machine caught fire, causing severe burns on his body and sparking a blaze that consumed an adjacent warehouse, according to officials.
Chad Funchess was reportedly attempting to start up the chainsaw to cut down a hanging limb near the former Memories T-shirt design shop, located at Broughton Street and Charleston Highway, when the machine malfunctioned.
The chainsaw quickly sparked a fire that engulfed the main warehouse and what appeared to be a shed attached to the building. The warehouse reportedly serves as a storage site for the service station and contained lubricating oils and canned goods.
Funchess, who may also have suffered smoke inhalation, was flown to the Augusta Burn Center. His exact status Wednesday evening was unknown.
Funchess is a volunteer firefighter for the West Middle Fire Department and his father, David, serves on the Orangeburg County Fire Commission.
A volunteer firefighter from the Four Holes Fire Department who helped battle the blaze was transported to the Regional Medical Center for heat exhaustion. He was treated and released shortly afterward.
Orangeburg Department of Public Safety Capt. Mike Adams said, “The information we received was he was working on a chainsaw and the chainsaw blew up. That set him on fire and then the building on fire.”

Manhole explosion, gas leak shakes up Greenburgh block
By NICOLE NEROULIAS
THE JOURNAL NEWS
(Original publication: August 17, 2007)
GREENBURGH - Eiler Lane residents were assured of their homes' safety after a sewer manhole explosion leaked carbon monoxide gas onto their block yesterday in the East Irvington section of town.
The Irvington Fire Department recorded an elevated level of carbon monoxide around the uncovered manhole after the 7:30 a.m. explosion, but levels were close to normal by 9 a.m., Fire Chief Ken Mastropietro said.
The Westchester County Board of Health checked the area before Greenburgh police reopened the street between Taxter Road and Shaw Lane shortly after 10 a.m.
The cause of the explosion was a natural gas leak, Greenburgh Police Chief John Kapica said.
Con Edison responded to the incident, but officials quickly determined that the gas was leaking from the sewage system, not the utility company's equipment.
"It's not gas or electric related," said Dan Lyons, a Con Edison spokesman. "The (carbon monoxide) reading is coming from the manhole. It smells like gas, but it's sewer gas."
Residents said they heard three explosions between 7:20 and 7:30 a.m., with the final one blowing off the manhole cover.
Rob Triestman, 37, who lives at 67 Eiler Lane, said residents came out of their homes after the second explosion and called police when they saw the slightly dislodged manhole.
"We saw a spark, and then it flew up 15 feet into the air," he said. "We ran."
He remained outside when the fire department arrived, comforting his trembling bulldog, Oliver.
Across the street at 50 Eiler Lane, three children excitedly recounted their eventful morning as they kept an eye on the flashing emergency vehicles.
"When we woke up, we thought it was thunder," said Samantha Nadasi, 8. "We came out when we felt the big rumble."
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The tropical weather season revved up Thursday as the Atlantic's first hurricane formed and quickly strengthened, and as Tropical Storm Erin's remnants soaked rain-weary Texas, snarling rush-hour traffic and killing at least two people.
Even as they fetched dozens of stranded drivers, authorities in Houston and San Antonio looked over their shoulders at Hurricane Dean, a Category 2 storm building in the Atlantic as it neared islands in the eastern Caribbean. Hurricane warnings were issued for some islands, and a tropical storm warning was issued for the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.
The thunderstorms from Erin brought 7 inches of rain to parts of San Antonio and Houston, where one person died and another was injured when the waterlogged roof of a storage unit outside a grocery store collapsed, Fire Chief Omero Longoria said. The National Hurricane Center said 10 inches of rain was possible in some areas.
In San Antonio, a man was swept away after apparently getting out of his vehicle in floodwater, a police spokeswoman said. Three people died in a head-on collision on a rainy highway in Comal County, but Department of Public Safety Trooper Rick Alvarez said the cause of the crash was still under investigation.
Houston-based Transocean Inc., which operates the largest deepwater drilling rig fleet in U.S. waters in the Gulf of Mexico, said Thursday it had evacuated 11 non-essential workers late Wednesday as a precaution. About 125 people remain on board the moored, semisubmersible rig about 160 miles southeast of New Orleans.
Hurricane specialists expect this year's Atlantic hurricane season — June 1 to Nov. 30 — to be busier than average, with as many as 16 tropical storms, nine of them strengthening into hurricanes. Ten tropical storms developed in the Atlantic last year, but only two made landfall in the United States.

Grand Cayman is the largest of the three Cayman Islands at about 196 km² and contains the capital George Town.
The island is a high-lying reef of "ironshore" (limestone fringes with numerous marine fossils), with a highest elevation of roughly 24 meters above sea level. There is no natural fresh water (lakes, rivers, etc) on the island, so any fresh water needs must be met by catchments or desalination of seawater. The lack of rivers does however account for the exceptional clarity of the sea.

The official flag of the Cherokee Nation was raised for the first time on September 30, 1979. The seal is surrounded by seven stars, each with a point in line with the seven points of the center star. The seven stars and the seven points of each star symbolize the 7 clans of the Cherokees. The orange flag is bordered by a black and green rope along the outer edge.

The term "Blue Lodge" is used by Freemasons to denote the first three degrees of Freemasonry. Freemasonic records detail the strength and growth of the lodges among the Five Nations. I admit I'm grasping at straws with the flag thing. But, before I looked into this, I had no idea that some of the Indian tribes were involved with Albert Pike!! I never knew of that connection.
As far as plotting points, there are so many of them by now. Although I will say I have been especially struck *lately* by the 'combination' of the 2,4's with 9/11's in the articles.
In that regard, we have NYC, Minneapolis, Utah (mine) and Houston. Looks like another "diamond"....
