Wyman, who won a best actress Academy Award for her portrayal of a deaf rape victim in "Johnny Belinda" before later appearing in the hit television soap "Falcon Crest," died at her Palm Springs home, according to William Martin with Forest Lawn Memorial Park and Mortuary in Cathedral City.

No one hurt as sailboat explodes at dock on island near Nanaimo

NANAIMO, B.C. (CP) — A sailboat has exploded and sunk at a dock on an island off Nanaimo, B.C.
David Burneau of the Victoria Search and Rescue Centre says no one was hurt in the blast. He says the explosion took place at Newcastle Island, which is a short distance off Nanaimo.
The cause of the blast is not immediately known.

Sept. 11 Partial Solar Eclipse
A solar eclipse on Sept. 11, 2007 brings up issues related to the 9/11 attacks, the war on terror, and the Al Qaeda eclipse of Sept. 11, 1988- that fell at the same zodiacal degree(18-19 Virgo). I believe I was one of the first astrologers to notice the important linkage between the charts for these connected events.
The 9/11/07 eclipse chart for the US capital features Mercury- lord of the eclipse rising, with the eclipse itself in the 12th house of secret enemies, self-undoing, and covert activities. Mercury is conjunct Vindemiatrix- the star of widdowhood. The war on terror has produced many widdows, and will certainly create alot more, if Bush has his way.
This eclipse has a volatile potential, in it's opposition with radical Uranus, and square to violent Mars. But a solar eclipse often requires a trigger to set off it's latent energy, and this does'nt ususally occur until some months later. The Oct. 26 Full Moon is one possible eclipse trigger, as this lunation falls precisely on the meridian in D.C., and Mars on the eclipse Midheaven(10 Cancer), while squaring the eclipse Ascendant-Mercury(9 Libra). Both Jupiter and Venus will be activating the 9/11/07 eclipse degree(18 Virgo), as well.
Traditional astrologers prefer the Great Conjunction of 1762(Jupiter conjunct Saturn at 12 Aries) as the most reliable USA chart, over any cast for July 4, 1776. This base chart for the USA has Mars at 2 Scorpio, with it's progressed Nodes at 2 Taurus-Scorpio. And the Oct. 26, 2007 Full Moon(2 Taurus) is conjunct the USA Mars and Nodes, as Mars transits the angles of the USA chart, and those of the 9/11/07 eclipse chart, at the same time. Consequently, if the Sept. 11, 2007 solar eclipse forshadows a violent attack or flashpoint for the US- the Oct. 26 Full Moon may time such an event.
The Libra ingress(Fall Equinox) chart set for Washington, DC, suggests an intense Fall, with acutely, violent power struggles on the agenda- between Bush and Congress, and between the US and it's enemies.

Helicopter crashes in rural Alabama
Tuesday, September 11, 2007, at 11:45 p.m.
SCOTTSBORO, Ala. -- A helicopter crashed in a rural area in the vicinity of Skyline, Ala., with unconfirmed reports of fatalities Tuesday night, according to news reports.
A 16-year-old girl said she saw a helicopter and shortly afterwards heard an explosion.
Jackson County sheriffs deputies and other officers were on the scene Tuesday night, according to news reports. The incident reportedly occurred off County Road 138, and parts of debris from what is believed to have been from a helicopter were found in a pasture near the scene.
Reports were that high voltage power lines were involved.
The crash occurred at about 6 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. CST.
Authorities from Redstone Arsenal in adjoining Madison County, Ala., were reportedly arriving at the scene as the investigation was continuing at 10 p.m. CST.

RUSSIA has tested the world's most powerful vacuum bomb, which unleashes a destructive shockwave with the power of a nuclear blast,
The bomb, dubbed by the military as the is the latest in a series of new Russian weapons and policy moves as President Vladimir Putin tries to reassert Moscow's role on the international stage.
The report said the new bomb was much stronger than the US-built Massive Ordnance Air Blast bomb - MOAB, also known under its name "Mother of All Bombs".
"So, Russian designers called the new weapon 'Father of All Bombs'," it said.
"Test results of the new airborne weapon have shown that its efficiency and power is commensurate with a nuclear weapon," Alexander Rukshin, Russian deputy armed forces chief of staff, told Russia's state ORT First Channel television. The same report was later shown on the state-sponsored Vesti channel.
"You will now see it in action, the bomb which has no match in the world is being tested at a military site."
It showed a Tupolev Tu-160 strategic bomber dropping the bomb over a testing ground. A large explosion followed.
Pictures showed what looked like a flattened multi-storey block of flats surrounded by scorched soil and boulders. "The soil looks like a lunar landscape," the report said.
"The defence ministry stresses this military invention does not contradict a single international treaty. Russia is not unleashing a new arms race."
Such devices generally detonate in two stages. First a small blast disperses a main load of explosive material into a cloud, which then either spontaneously ignites in air or is set off by a second charge.
This explosion generates a pressure wave that reaches much further than that from a conventional explosive. The consumption of gases in the blast also generates a partial vacuum that can compound damage and injuries caused by the explosion itself.
"The main destruction is inflicted by an ultrasonic shockwave and an incredibly high temperature," the reports said. "All that is alive merely evaporates."
Rukshin said: "At the same time, I want to stress that the action of this weapon does not contaminate the environment, in contrast to a nuclear one."
The Tu-160 supersonic bomber that dropped the bomb, widely known under its NATO nickname of "Blackjack", is the heaviest combat aircraft ever built. Putin, who has overseen the roll-out of new tactical and anti-aircraft missiles and combat aircraft, has ordered "Blackjacks" and the Tu-95 "Bear" bombers to patrol around the world.
Showing the orange-painted US prototype, the report said the Russian bomb was four times more powerful - 44 tonnes of TNT equivalent - and the temperature at the epicentre of its blast was two times higher.
In 1999 Russian generals threatened to use vacuum bombs to wipe out rebels from the mountains during the "anti-terrorist operation" in its restive Chechnya province.
New York-based Human Rights Watch then appealed to Putin to refrain from using fuel-air explosives. It remains unclear if weapons of this type were used during the Chechen war.
US forces have used a "thermobaric" bomb, which works on similar principles, in their campaign against al-Qaeda and Taliban forces in the mountains of eastern Afghanistan.
"It (the bomb) will allow us to safeguard our state's security and fight international terrorism in any circumstances and in any part of the world," Rukshin said.

East Texas Woman Dies In House Fire 09-11-07
An East Texas woman dies after being pulled out of her burning home. Investigators say the fire broke out around 11 o'clock Tuesday morning at a house on County Road 2209, just east of Tyler near Chapel Hill. The woman is identified as homeowner Molly Ferguson, 76, of Smith County.
Molly Ferguson retired from Chapel Hill High School back in 2000, after almost 40 years of teaching. Fellow teachers say she was a self-less person who always put others before herself.
Flames were shooting out of the roof while four fire departments fought the blaze from every corner. An East Texas woman was rescued by her neighbor and then transported to the hospital.
"I went to the fire and tried to get in the front and didn't get in the front, so I went to the back door and it was locked so I knocked the window out and unlocked it and the lady laying right there at the door," says Lawrence Thompson, Molly's neighbor.
That's when Thompson had to tear the door down to get his neighbor Molly Ferguson out, cutting his hand in the process.
"I'm not a hero. I should have done more....I should have helped get the fire out, but I couldn't get any water, I couldn't get anything," he says.
Fire investigators say the house was fully engulfed when they arrived on scene. Molly suffered severe burns all over her body and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
"She was extensively burned, more like a flash burn," says Smith County Fire Marshal Jim Seaton.
Friends and neighbors were horrified at the site of the burning home.
"Looking at it and you think 'oh this can't be, it can't be.' It's hard, it's just really hard, it's horrible," says fellow teacher Erlene Bethea.
She taught at Chapel Hill High School with Molly, mother of four.
"Lovely, gracious lady who did for everybody else but herself and that's the truth...I can't believe I'm looking at this, I can't believe I'm looking at this," Erlene says while staring at the burning home.
Erlene says Molly was well known in the Chapel Hill community, with many friends, who will all be praying for her family during this tragedy.
Fire Marshal Jim Seaton says they haven't determined a cause or origin of the fire. But he says it may have been some sort of explosion. Seaton says they will be out here tomorrow running some tests.

Gas erupts from artesian well
An artesian well in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan, started spewing gas (see photo) on Tuesday, raising concerns about possible explosions in the area.
"After drilling about 30 meters, we found an unusual reaction. The water that we poured into the well to bring up ground water was absorbed after the appearance of some bubbles. Not long after that, gas started flowing out of the well," owner Youce Lala said Tuesday.
Worried about an explosion, Youce asked colleague Roy Tinggogoi, an employee in the drilling division of Weather Ford, for his opinion. Roy inserted a 30-meter pressure pipe into the well and set fire to the gas to form a flare.
"We hope the flare will burn all the gas and the well will produce water after running out of gas," Roy said.
Achmad Yani of the Balikpapan Environment Control Agency initially said the gas could run out within 14 hours. But 23 hours later the flare was still burning three meters in the air.
Roy said the gas started flowing at 3:30 pm on Monday from the well, which had been drilled through four layers of top soil, coal, soil and coal, just two meters from him his home in Sepinggan. The gas was not poisonous, and smelled like liquefied petroleum gas, he said. J

Explosion Destroys Vacant Rock County House
Authorities: No Injuries Reported

TOWN OF PLYMOUTH, Wis. -- An explosion blew a vacant house in the town of Plymouth off its foundation on Tuesday morning, according to Rock County officials.
Firefighters were at the scene of the explosion, which apparently happened at about 7 a.m. on West Laird Road.
The force of the explosion launched debris 500 yards in every direction, WISC-TV reported. Residents several miles away reported hearing the blast.
"The owners have moved up north and are no longer here. The property is currently on the market to be sold, or was," said Todd Christiansen, a Rock County sheriff's deputy.
County officials said that no one was injured in the incident, WISC-TV reported. Authorities said the house was destroyed by the explosion and fire.
The Rock County Sheriff's Department is investigating the cause of the explosion.

9/11/07, Fort Belvoir, VA — Eighty-eight Virginia Army National Guard Soldiers helped to defuse a simulated explosive situation during the second day of a Vigilant Guard training exercise on Sept. 6.
It was a command post exercise designed for the National Guard, in coordination with local, state and federal agencies, to exercise its emergency response plans, policies and procedures during a simulated terrorist attack against the National Capital Region. Everyone worked together in Task Force Nova.
As it was responding to terrorist-caused explosions on the Woodrow Wilson Memorial Bridge between Virginia and Maryland and an explosion at the Colonial Pipeline in Fairfax, the task force of Soldiers from the 29th Infantry Division learned of an additional explosion in Alexandria that resulted in a train derailment and caused a chemical release.
The newly confirmed explosion meant additional Virginia Guard resources would have to be directed toward Alexandria, potentially hampering and complicating the National Guard’s response to the Wilson Bridge and Fairfax explosions.
The additional strain on resources was exactly what Vigilant Guard controllers and evaluators hoped to create as the exercise tested the preparedness and response of the National Guard to provide support to civil authorities.
There were no actual lives in the balance during Vigilant Guard, but every participant realized that the potential for terrorist attacks, especially in the Washington region, is a very real threat and the National Guard must prepare to respond to concurrent contingencies.
The training exercise ran Sept. 5-7 in Virginia, Maryland and DC, and included more than 300 National Guard Soldiers, Airmen, defense contractors and civilian officials.
“This exercise tests our ability to communicate, plan and implement our support and assistance to civilian authorities,” said 1LT Eliana Walsh of the 29th Infantry Division. “It’s been stressed (by officials) to not view Vigilant Guard as an exercise, but as reality.”
MG Robert Newman, the Virginia National Guard’s adjutant general, emphasized to the task force that there are no second chances in a real-world contingency.
“None of us can afford to fail the next time the balloon goes up,” MG Newman said. “For the next (catastrophic) event, we’ve got to be ready.”
MG Newman said exercises such as Vigilant Guard give National Guard and state officials the opportunity to assess the Guard’s mission requirements for homeland defense.
“The exercise allows us to ensure that the missions, formations, personnel and equipment dedicated to a contingency are going to fulfill our obligations to the governor,” MG Newman said. “The exercises have been beneficial and have pointed out both our successes and our shortcomings so we can work to make those future successes.”
The Exercise Control Cell for Vigilant Guard was located in the Virginia Emergency Operations Center in Richmond. Joint Task Force Nova replicated lower echelon units.

Bombardier Grounds Planes After Second SAS Accident (Update1)

Sept. 12 (Bloomberg) -- Bombardier Inc., the world's third-biggest aircraft maker, issued instructions for the grounding of 60 turboprop planes following a second accident involving its Dash 8 Q400 model in a week.
The right main landing gear on a Scandinavian Airlines Q400 plane collapsed after touchdown in Lithuania today after a flight from Copenhagen, Bombardier said in statement. An aircraft operated by the same carrier caught fire in Aalborg, Denmark, on Sept. 9 after its landing gear failed to work.
All Q400 aircraft that have accumulated more than 10,000 cycles -- comprising a takeoff and landing -- should be grounded until inspections of the gear, made by Goodrich Corp., have been carried out, Montreal-based Bombardier said. The recommendation affects 60 planes.
``A Bombardier air-safety representative has been dispatched to the second incident site to provide assistance to the investigating authorities,'' the Canadian company said. ``Until such time as investigations are concluded by the relevant aviation authorities, Bombardier cannot speculate or comment as to the cause of these incidents.''
In today's incident, flight SK2748 from Copenhagen to Palanga, Lithuania, experienced technical difficulties and was diverted to the capital Vilnius, where the gear collapse occurred at 1:36 a.m. local time, SAS Group, the owner of Scandinavian Airlines, said in a statement.
Evacuation
All 48 passengers and four crew members were evacuated, with no injuries reported, SAS said. In the Sept. 9 accident five of 69 passengers were injured.
Shares of Stockholm-based SAS fell as much as 3.75 kronor, or 3 percent, to 12.25 kronor and were trading at 120.75 kronor as of 10:14 a.m.
Bombardier has delivered more than 160 Q400 aircraft, it said today. Together with Charlotte, North Carolina- based Goodrich, the world's largest supplier of aircraft landing gear, the company issued the recommendation that planes be grounded ``as a precautionary measure,'' it said.
Transport Canada has been briefed on events and Bombardier is working with the regulator to establish the requirement for corrective actions, if required, it said.

"The paradox is this: There has been no follow-on attack against the United States. The United States did dislodge Saddam Hussein and the Taliban, and while the war goes badly, the casualties are a small fraction of those lost in Vietnam. Most important, bin Laden's dream is gone. No Muslim state has been overthrown and replaced with a regime that bin Laden would find worthy. He has been marginalized by both the United States and by his rival Shiite radicals, who have picked up the mantle that he dropped. His own jihadist movement is no longer under his effective control.
Bin Laden has been as badly battered by time as Bush. Unable to achieve any of his political goals, unable to mount another attack, he reminds us of Che Guevara after his death in Bolivia. He is a symbol of rebellion for a generation that does not intend to rebel and that carefully ignores his massive failures.
Yet, in the end, Guevara and bin Laden could have become important only if their revolutions had succeeded. There is much talk and much enthusiasm. There is no revolution. Therefore, what time has done to bin Laden's hopes is interesting, but in the end, as a geopolitical force, he has not counted beyond his image since Sept. 11, 2001.
The effect on the United States is much more profound. The war, both in Iraq and against al Qaeda, has worn the United States down over time. The psychology of fear has been replaced by a psychology of cynicism. The psychology of confidence in war has been replaced by a psychology of helplessness. Exhaustion pervades all.
That is the single most important outcome of the war. What happens to bin Laden is, in the end, about as important as what happened to Guevara. Legends will be made of it -- not history. But when the world's leading power falls into the psychological abyss brought about by time and war, the entire world is changed by it. Every country rethinks its position and its actions. Everything changes.
That is what is important about the Petraeus report. He will ask for more time. Congress will give it to him. The president will take it. Time, however, has its price not only in war but also psychologically. And if the request for time leads to more failure and the American psychology is further battered, then that is simply more time that other powers, great and small, will have to take advantage of the situation. The United States has psychologically begun tearing itself apart over both the war on terrorism and the war in Iraq. Whatever your view of that, it is a fact -- a serious geopolitical fact.

almost everything about the article...
However, to answer your question...
if the situation does not degrade fully into one of 'zombification' and total submission of the "American Psyche" to the will of the self-appointed "ruling class", which will mean its 'destruction' as an ideal on the world stage, it will result in chaotic social upheaval and quite possibly a bloody vigilante-type internal revolution with acts similar to the noble decapitations of the French Revolution.
To simplify, either the will of the people will be irreversibly broken and submission achieved or the people will destroy themselves.
Either way, further progression down the current path and the nation will be unrecognizable and completely vulnerable to outside influence. |

The winds were returned so the ships could sail after appropriate sacrifice was made to her.

Residents feel blast before plant fire
Associated Press - September 12, 2007 8:35 AM ET
CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio (AP) - People living near a central Ohio wood products plant say they felt an explosion before a fire at the facility last night.
One woman says her windows shook and she thought something had hit a large tree outside her home.
When firefighters arrived at the American Wood Fibers plant outside Circleville, they found a silo in flames.
Authorities say all the workers got out safely.
No word yet on what caused the fire or how much damage was done.
Circleville is 27 miles south of Columbus.

St Petersburg Bus #2661 crashes into Amscot Bldg...
PSTA bus crashes into Central Ave. building
St. Petersburg, Florida - St. Pete Police and Fire Rescue are responding to a bus crash at the intersection of Central Ave. and 32nd St. N.
Police say a Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority bus turned out of the terminal and crashed into two cars, a tree, and finally the front of a building.
A witness told us that the Amscot store had all of the glass shattered in the front of the store.
Authorities now say the majority of the injuries are not serious, however, it appears that one pedestrian was hit.
Tampa Bay's 10 News has crews en route and we will updating this story as soon as the information becomes available.
