This subject matter has always perturbed me somewhat.
It is indeed a statistical reality that has NO logical conclusion, Imo, other than the remaining obvious reason......abduction to underground "military/secret government" facilities and the like for "evil & sadistic" purposes.
What other reasons could there be?
