Don't know about thunderbirds, but my hubby and I once saw a pair of condors flying down Hwy 101 about ten miles south of Gilroy CA and both of us thought they were a couple of Piper Cubs or small Cessnas.

I have a couple of pictures of what looks like a huge bird, but it is actually a UFO, winged looking docked on top of another thin UFO. Click the first link, and there are three more pics of this. [link to lh4.google.com]

There are also some very large winged type craft that large whale/dinosaur shaped UFO's undock from, as well as huge dragon like ships, huge landing decks and underside bays, where many smaller craft dock and undock.
