NEWS FROM MIDDLE EAST-Damascus has deferred its war plans from late summer to November-PROVOCATIONS BY SYRIA AT GOLAN TO START WAR
Damascus has deferred its war plans from late summer to November

July 31, 2007, 1:07 PM (GMT+02:00)

This piece of intelligence was behind the Israeli prime minister Ehud Olmert’s comment Tuesday, July 31: “I think this summer and fall will be less hot than we expected.” He was addressing a ceremony ending a course at the National Security College in Jerusalem on expectations from the Syrian front and in the Lebanese Hizballah. It was attended also by defense minister Ehud Barak, Chief of staff Lt. Gen Gaby Ashkenazi and graduates.

DEBKAfile’s military sources report that the latest intelligence update on Syria’s intentions reached Jerusalem via Washington in the last few days. It indicated that Syria’s political and military leaders had rescheduled the start of hostilities against Israel on the Golan for the second two weeks of November, 2007, postponing their original planning by more than two months.

According to those sources, Syria plans to kick off its offensive with a series of terrorist raids by commando units on civilian villages, military bases and highways, as well as cross-border fire on IDF vehicles and positions guarding the border.

At that stage, the Syrian command will be testing Israel’s military responses before mapping out its next moves accordingly.

Monday, Syria’s deputy foreign minister said that his country has no plans to go to war against Israel. DEBKAfile’s Middle East sources note that the foreign ministry in Damascus has evidently not been briefed on the plans hatched by President Bashar Assad and his inner clique including his brother-in-law, chief of military intelligence Gen. Assaf Shawqat.

IDF kills 2 Palestinian gunmen in north Gaza

Soldiers operating against terror infrastructure in northern Strip shoot gunmen dead near Gaza-Israel border fence. Anti-tank missile fired at IDF forces, army says; no injuries reported

08.01.07, 15:06 / Israel News

Israel Defense Forces troops killed two Palestinian gunmen and wounded several others in the Gaza Strip on Wednesday, Palestinian sources said.

The two were killed by soldiers near the Gaza-Israel border fence, according to Dr. Muawiya Hassanin of the Palestinian Health Ministry.

"Forces are operating in the northern strip against terror infrastructure," an Israeli army spokesman confirmed in Tel Aviv.

"Troops identified two armed men and shot both of them, but cannot confirm they are dead. An anti-tank missile was also fired at the (Israeli) force," the spokesman said.

Hamas and the Popular Resistance Committees said their fighters confronted IDF troops in the Gaza town of Beit Lahiya, an area used by militants as a launching ground for rocket attacks on southern Israel.

In a text message sent to reporters, Hamas said its men were clashing with troops in northern Gaza. But it was not immediately clear if the two dead men belonged to Hamas.

IDF troops regularly enter Gaza to combat Palestinian militants firing rockets at Israeli towns.

Two Journalists Sentenced to Death in Iran

Tuesday, July 31, 2007

TEHRAN, Iran — The Iranian judiciary confirmed that two journalist from the country's Kurdish minority have been sentenced to death, a rare verdict against media people here, the official Islamic Republic News Agency reported on Tuesday.

"Adnan Hassanpour and Hiva Boutimar have been sentenced to execution on the charge of Moharebeh," the agency quoted Ali Reza Jamshidi, spokesman of judiciary, as saying. Moharebeh, which literally means "fighting" in classical Arabic, is used in Iran's Sharia law to describe a major crime against the religion and the Islamic state.

The official new agency did not specify what crime the two Kurdish journalists were precisely accused of.

The journalists were also seen as activists in Sanandaj, the capital of the western Iranian province of Kurdistan, bordering Iraq.

They have been detained after Kurds protested in Sanandaj in 2005.

Syria has no plans to attack Israel at all, Syria has plans to defend itself from Israeli aggression.

What the article should read is that Israel has delayed its planned attack on Syria until November - which indeed is exactly what I have read elsewhere.

So OP I am afraid you deserve these quite a lot for your blindness to the genuine situation in the ME.

Iran Plans To Nuke Europe, US - Sanctions Urged

Iran and nuclear terrorism. Not a threat, a promise.

Israel News Agency

Jerusalem ----- February 28, 2007 .... An Israel security official told the Israel News Agency that the recent launch of a missile from Iran into space illustrated a direct threat to both Europe's and US national security.

On February 25, Iran launched a missile reaching space. "Iran has successfully launched its first space missile made by Iranian scientists," the head of Iran's aerospace research center, Mohsen Bahrami, was quoted as saying. On Saturday, Iran Defense Minister Mostafa Mohammad Najjar said Iran was planning to build a satellite and launcher.

"Iran has no plans to land a man on the moon," Col. Adam an Israeli security source told the INA. "The same technology is used to build intercontinental ballistic missiles. This Iran space launch is not a threat to Israel. The Iranians need not reach a space orbit to attack Israel, but such a high orbit would be needed to deliver a nuclear payload into Europe or the US."

Iran launched its first satellite, Sina-1, into orbit from a Russian rocket in 2005 and has said it planned to modify its Shahab-3 missile, which Iran says has a range of about 2,000 km (1,250 miles), to launch satellites. Bahrami said the missile was built by his center in cooperation of the Defense and Science Ministries. He gave no further details. Despite announcing what would be a major advance in Iran's missile technology, the news was mentioned only once by the main state TV news channel and was not carried by other Iranian official media.
...
"Iran is no different than Nazi Germany", the MFA source said. "They too built up an army, resources and created the V-2." The V-2 was the first man-made object launched into space, during test flights that reached an altitude of 189 km (117 miles) in 1944. "While Germany was putting the finishing touches to the V-2 which was eventually used against Britain, the world stood by wanting to talk. Now we have Iran repeating history, declaring to "wipe Israel off the map" while planting bombs in Iraq and Afghanistan, one which nearly killed US Vice President Cherney during his visit there a few days ago."

'Syria preps for summer war'

Officials: Iran helping Damascus produce rockets, move troops, missiles
Posted: April 23, 2007

TEL AVIV – Syria aided by Iran is making preparations for a summer war with Israel, including acquisition of advanced weaponry, placement of missiles near the Jewish state's border, and training and movements of strategic troop battalions, Israeli security officials told WND.

The information follows media interviews last week in which Syrian President Bashar Assad stated he doesn't rule out the possibility of war with Israel. Syrian officials recently have also been warning if Israel doesn't vacate the Golan Heights, Damascus will resort to "resistance."

The Heights is strategic mountainous territory that looks down on Israeli and Syrian population centers; it was twice used by Damascus to mount ground invasions into the Jewish state.

According to Israeli security officials, the Syrian military in recent week has been carrying out stepped-up training of troops and has increased the readiness of its army.

The officials noted movement of Syrian Scud missiles near the border with Israel and said Syria has been increasing production of rockets capable of hitting central Israeli population centers.

The security officials said the greatest threat Syria poses to the Jewish state are the country's missiles and rockets. They noted Syria recently test-fired two Scud-D surface-to-surface missiles, which have a range of about 250 miles, covering most Israeli territory. The officials said the Syrian missile test was coordinated with Iran and is believed to have been successful. It is not known what type of warhead the missiles had.

In addition to longer range Scuds, Syria is in possession of shorter range missiles such as 220 millimeter and 305 millimeter rockets, some of which have been passed on to Hezbollah.

In addition, Israel has information Syria recently acquired and deployed Chinese-made C-802 missiles, which were successfully used against the Israeli navy during Israel's war against the Lebanese Hezbollah militia this pasty July and August. The missiles were passed to Syria by Iran, Israeli security officials told WND.

Russia recently sold to Syria advanced anti-tank missiles similar to the projectiles that devastated Israeli tanks during the last Lebanon war, causing the highest number of Israeli troop casualties during the 34 days of military confrontations. Syria and Russia are negotiating the sale of advanced anti-aircraft missiles.

Israeli security officials told WND Syria is preparing for a summer war, but said the war preparations are defensive in nature. They said Syrian war preparations are being coordinated by Iran. The officials said Syria believes Israel will attack first in response to ongoing support of Hezbollah, including the passage of large quantities of rockets to the Lebanese group. The officials also said Syria estimates the U.S. or Israel will attack Iran, and that Syria will be drawn into a larger military confrontation.

Israeli security officials don't rule out the possibility Syria may start a low-grade military conflict with Israel over the Golan Heights, noting multiple Syria officials in recent months warned if Israel doesn't vacate the territory, Damascus will launch "resistance."

In one recent example, Syrian Information Minister Mohsen Bilal last month announced, "If in the next coming months there will not be a political solution, military resistance will be the only solution for Syrians."

Syria Attacks Israel Soldiers on Golan Heights

Israel News Agency

Tel Aviv---- June 28...... Syrian soldiers attacked Israel Defense Force troops yesterday. The IDF reported reported that automatic fire was opened on Israel soldiers who were performing engineering chores with Israel's security border fence.

The IDF did not return fire and the incident is now under investigation. Israel security sources stated that there were no casualties. The unprovoked attack from the Syrian side of the border occurred when the troops were working near the Kuneitra crossing point.

IDF sources said it appeared the fire was perpetrated by at least one Syrian soldier on the basis of the fact that there is a Syrian army position in the proximity of the origin of the shooting. The IDF would not go into further details. They noted that there was no apparent reason for the shooting by light weapons fire at the time of the incident because the IDF soldiers had been involved in routine work.

According to the military sources, Israel considered this to be an extremely serious incident that was a serious breach of the 1974 Disengagement of Forces Agreement and that a complaint would be submitted to United Nations. The UN has a force on the Golan to observe the agreement.

In April, a Syrian terrorist infiltrated the border from Syria and entered a nearby Israel Defense Forces post in the central sector of the Golan Heights before being apprehended by an unarmed IDF officer, in what was believed to be the first incident of its kind in some 30 years. The terrorist later told interrogators that his intention had been to kidnap a soldier to avenge family members killed by the IDF in Lebanon. There were no casualties among troops manning the position. The terrorist, 21, was reported to be a Syrian citizen of Palestinian origin and a resident of a refugee camp in Syria. He reportedly told interrogators that he was a Fatah activist and that he had intended to avenge family members who were killed in the IDF shelling of a UN base near Kafr Kana at the end of Operation Grapes of Wrath in 1996.

Assad repeats: Peace only in return for Golan

Aug. 1, 2007

Peace with Israel will only come with the return of all occupied Syrian lands, President Bashar Assad repeated Wednesday as US officials toured the Middle East to promote a new regional conference.

"Our desire for peace does not mean at all abandoning our rights," Assad said in a televised speech to mark the Syrian national army day.

"Syria's leadership, people and military will only accept the full return of the Golan Heights," he said. The Heights were captured by Israel during the Six Day War.

His comments came as US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Defense Secretary Robert Gates met regional leaders to promote a Palestinian-Israeli peace conference proposed by President George W. Bush for September.

This is bad news. Olmert is bad news for Israel. Once the Israeli 'peace-niks' give the Golan Heights back, Syria will have an outpost capable of striking most of Northern Israel even with the lousy artillery the Syrians got from Iran.

Exactly. Every time Israel wants to start a war, it deceitfully claims that the other side was "gonna" attack. Israel has learned very well from its mentor, Herr Hitler:

[link to en.wikipedia.org]
---
The Gleiwitz incident was a staged attack on 31 August 1939 against the German radio station Sender Gleiwitz in Gleiwitz, Upper Silesia, Germany (since 1945: Gliwice, Republic of Poland) on the eve of World War II in Europe.

This provocation was one of several actions in Operation Himmler, a Nazi Germany project to create the appearance of Polish aggression against Germany, which would be used to justify the subsequent invasion of Poland.

Events at Gleiwitz
Much of what is known about the Gleiwitz incident comes from the sworn affidavit of Alfred Naujocks at the Nuremberg Trials. According to his testimony, the incident was organized by Naujocks under orders from Reinhard Heydrich and Heinrich Müller, the chief of the Gestapo.[1]

On the night of August 31, 1939 a small group of German operatives, dressed in Polish uniforms and led by Naujocks[2] seized the Gleiwitz station and broadcast a short anti-German message in Polish (sources vary on the content on the message). The Germans' goal was to make the attack and the broadcast look like the work of anti-German Polish saboteurs.[3][2]

In order to make the attack scene more convincing, the Germans brought in Franciszek Honiok, a German Silesian known for sympathizing with the Poles, who had been arrested the previous day by the Gestapo. Honiok was dressed to look like a saboteur; then killed by lethal injection, given gunshot wounds, and left dead at the scene, so that he appeared to have been killed while attacking the station. His corpse was subsequently presented as proof of the attack to the police and press.[4]

In addition to Honiok, several other convicts from the Dachau concentration camp[2] were kept available for this purpose.[3] The Germans referred to them by the code phrase "Konserve" ("canned goods"). For this reason some sources incorrectly refer to the incident as "Operation Canned Goods".[5]

This is precisely the viewpoint of international law as well. Even besides the illegality of aggressive war itself, neither party to a war has any right to 'seize' the other's land except as a temporary measure awaiting a peace treaty. In other words, "Land for peace" is a requirement of international law.

And needless to say, anyone who believes that a particular regime has 'God-given' rights superior to international law is simply a racist bigot. If he claims religious justification for his bigotry, he also blasphemes the Lord, who does not countenance bigotry.

Plans to build a pipeline to siphon oil from newly conquered Iraq to Israel are being discussed between Washington, Tel Aviv and potential future government figures in Baghdad.
 Quoting: Push/Pull 274744

Notice America's typical stab-in-the-back duplicity. This statement makes clear that the allegedly legitimate Iraqi government, the one that we officially recognize and support, does not wish to supply Israel with oil; and so, the United States is plotting a coup d'etat in Iraq in order to install a government 'friendlier' toward Israel!

That is exactly the implication when two governments negotiate a controversial deal with 'potential future government figures' in another country.

1 And the LORD spoke unto Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, in the tent of meeting, on the first day of the second month, in the second year after they were come out of the land of Egypt, saying:

2 Take ye the sum of all the congregation of the children of Israel, by their families, by their fathers' houses, according to the number of names, every male, by their polls;

3 from twenty years old and upward, all that are able to go forth to war in Israel: ye shall number them by their hosts, even thou and Aaron.

Re: NEWS FROM MIDDLE EAST-Damascus has deferred its war plans from late summer to November-PROVOCATIONS BY SYRIA AT GOLAN TO START WAR
Question: "What is the land that God promised to Israel?"

Answer: In regards to the land that God has promised Israel, Genesis 15:18 declares, "To your descendants (Abraham's) I give this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the Euphrates." God later confirms this promise to Abraham's son Isaac, and Isaac's son Jacob (whose name was later changed to Israel). When the Israelites were about to invade the promised land, God reiterated the land promise, as recorded in Joshua 1:4, "Your territory will extend from the desert to Lebanon, and from the great river, the Euphrates — all the Hittite country — to the Great Sea on the west."

With Genesis 15:18 and Joshua 1:4 in mind, the land God gave to Israel included everything from the Nile river in Egypt to Lebanon (North to South) and everything from the Mediterranean Sea to the Euphrates River (West to East). So, what land has God stated belongs to Israel? All of the land modern Israel currently possesses, plus all of the land of the Palestinians (the West Bank and Gaza), plus some of Egypt and Syria, plus all of Jordan, plus some of Saudi Arabia and Iraq. Israel currently possesses only a fraction of the land God has promised.

BRAVE NEW SCHOOLS

Islamic prayers finally dropped
Elementary made accommodations as Arabic charter students arrived

Posted: August 1, 2007

San Diego's Carver Elementary School

Officials at a public elementary school in San Diego are dropping special times for Islamic prayers and classes segregated by sex, changes they had made when students from a failing Arabic-language charter school joined them a year ago.

An investigation was launched into what was done at San Diego's Carver Elementary after a substitute teacher, Mary-Frances Stevens, filled in there. She reported a teacher's aide was leading children in an Islamic prayer and that she was given a lesson plan allowing an hour of class time for Islamic prayers.

Now Superintendent Carl Cohn has issued a statement that there were reasons for many of the changes, such as the scheduling of classes around Islamic prayer time, the removal of pork from the lunchroom menu and the establishment of boys-only and girls-only classes, and critics misunderstand what was going on. Nevertheless, he wrote, some of those changes now are being dropped.

"The district is, and must demonstrably be, neutral toward religious belief and practice, leaving to our school children and their parents decisions about religious faith," he said in the memo to Carver Principal Kimberlee Kidd.

Re: NEWS FROM MIDDLE EAST-Damascus has deferred its war plans from late summer to November-PROVOCATIONS BY SYRIA AT GOLAN TO START WAR
