Any outside restraint that had been placed on this person was probably necessary due to the fact that they have always been this person, with this destiny, and therefore have had the ability to mess things up in a big way while growing up and learning things like self control, self restraint, and self discipline. I believe that those restraints are long gone now, and he's been restraining himself when necessary. He has to walk a very fine line.
