Knowledge is a deadly friend when no one sets the rules.
[link to www.lyricsfreak.com]

All the doom, gloom, and 'we're screwed' posts can be a downer... but the sad fact is, a lot of the dooming posts are true and many don't see the troubles that may lie ahead. Is ignorance really bliss? If you could take back time spent reading about the gloom and forget all you've learned here at GLP and any other 'conspiracy theory' sites, would you? Does this doom cause you to worry? If it does, would you gladly give the worry in exchange for some blissful ignorance, living your life from day to day only occasionally sweating the small things that only matter right now? Or does being somewhat informed of what to expect on the road ahead help you in your everyday life? Are you glad you know to prepare? Are you living in suspense just waiting for the shit to hit the fan?

Personally, sometimes I wouldn't mind having back the 5 years I've spent reading all these posts. Other times, I'm glad I know what I know and am somewhat prepared for what might come this way. Over the years some of the things I've found out have bothered me, but I've given it thought and decided I wouldn't take it back if I could.

What about you?

I do not regret or otherwise wish to forget any of the info I have gleaned from this site.

All the doom is a good lesson in critical thinking regarding info you read online.

Everything posted here regardless of content promotes thought and often forces readers to think outside of the box.

The info here has expanded my frame of reference in only a few short months.

Oh and the poop threads make me smurt, more smurter than youz.

First serious thread I've made, probably ever, in the time I've been here.

After reflecting on all I've come to know and reaching my conclusions, I figured I would ask others here how they feel about it all.

Kind of my way of saying 'thanks' to this site.

I've spent the last 20 years self medicating in an attempt to scrub 30 points off the top, however in retrospect I would never trade my own knowledge base for bliss.

Re: Knowledge is a deadly friend when no one sets the rules.
Excellent thread and great points.

I found this site and look back and I can't believe how blind I've been all these years.
I now drive everyone in my family and even some friends to the brink of insanity by telling them things I feel are relevant to their future well being.

I'm glad to spend time here and I like knowing what may happen in the near future.

I'd prefer to be prepared and understand what is going on around me if any of these doomsday scenarios takes place in my lifetime, even if I can do nothing to stop it from happening.

And who knows...with knowledge comes power. If enough people know the truth about so many of these things, maybe there can also be power in numbers.

Hmmm... perhaps so. I was in a pretty reflective mood tonight and was just wondering how other people felt about it all.

I seem to be slipping away from the net more and more after spending a lot of time here daily and getting my fill of doom all the time.

Now I've kinda gotten away from it a bit, and that was when I really saw how it's affected life.

I spent 13 years trying to convince my family to move out of Florida. They wouldn't. So, I came back to save their dumb asses anyways.

That, and I was sick of shovelling snow.

Well, I've been wondering if there's even any safer/better place to live in the world compared to where I'm living now.

I've arrived at the conclusion that there isn't.

I tried too MO, but, horse to water etc., so now I just live by example - they still think I'm insane, but they are curious as to why so happy when I have practically nothing that the modern human uses to define themself as "successful" and I'm ready to give it all up in a heartbeat. The love I have for family and friends can't be given up because I don't own it - I just try to live it.

I would always rather know than not know. Ignorance is not bliss. If I refuse to know, then I am a victim. If I know, then I can do something about it.
