Anonymous Coward User ID: 223232 United States 08/27/2007 03:21 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | can someone tell me if a planet was supposed to be rising in the west over manhattan last night at around 4-5am? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 282519a multi-color blinking star rose from the WEST at around 4-5am. stars dont rise in the west, but planets and other things can- such as satellites or gigantic motherships. i have only seen this weird "star" in this same spot one other time a few weeks ago. can someone tell me what was rising from the west last night? Call the local radio or T.V. stations. They may received a few phone calls on it too. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 282519a multi-color blinking star rose from the WEST at around 4-5am. stars dont rise in the west, but planets and other things can- such as satellites ... No planet rises in the west. You could, I suppose, have a satellite that rises in the set, but the chances of that happening are pretty small, since it would take a lot more enregy to inject a satellite into an orbit at a high enough speed to look as though it were rising in the west. ...or gigantic motherships... Quoting: Anonymous Coward 282519There are no "giant motherships". i have only seen this weird "star" in this same spot one other time a few weeks ago. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 282519can someone tell me what was rising from the west last night? It could've been an aircraft on a landing approach. Where's the EVIDENCE, Jim? |

Quoting: Xareokay so it wasn't a planet? can someone who knows how to read those soho type images or something tell me if it was a planet or not? if this was a "star"... why was it rising in the west at 4am? ??????????????? |
Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 282519 United States 08/27/2007 03:32 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | 1. There are no "giant motherships". Quoting: Duncan Kunz2. It could've been an aircraft on a landing approach. NO and NO this was not an aircraft, okay? it appeared to be a "star" that rises at the same speed as stars (much slower than an aircraft and a star doesn't look like an aircraft) do you think i can't tell the difference from a star and an airplane? there are airplanes flying all over manhattan. what i saw was what appeared to be a star. |

I would link it for you but don't know how. Good luck! Quoting: childoflight 281980that was me who posted that. i posted it a few weeks ago when i first saw this "star" and then posted on it last night when i saw it again. |

Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 282519 United States 08/27/2007 04:21 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | okay so here is an example of what i saw... i used google earth to show you my viewpoint from brooklyn over manhattan. the buildings sticking out on top is manhattan and the area below that is brooklyn. the "star" is shown rising in the location i saw it with the arrow signaling the direction it was going. this WAS not an aircraft. what i saw is what you would call a "star" and it was rising in the west. Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 282519 United States 08/27/2007 04:48 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | i think this should get pinned until we figure it out and come to some type of conclusion. what i saw is not normal and all we need is someone to verify if this was or was not a planet or something like that that was blinking colors and rising in the west. i know there are people out there who can verify this... |

Duncan Kunz User ID: 23141 United States 08/27/2007 05:42 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It could've been an aircraft on a landing approach. so you're saying when an aircraft lands it rises in the sky and keeps going up and never lands? No, but if an aircraft is on a long-leg landing approach, it could appear to rise higher in the sky as it subtends a greater angle to the viewer, and then, if it were to turn suddenly, it would "blink out". But I'm not saying what it was. I do know that it wasn't a star or a planet, and since there are no such things as "mother-ships", I tossed out the idea of an aircraft as merely another possibility to be discussed. please shut the fuck up. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 282519My, aren't we a little potty-mouth anonymous coward today! Where's the EVIDENCE, Jim? |
Duncan Kunz User ID: 23141 United States 08/27/2007 05:45 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | why would someone give this one star? why are people so incredibly stupid? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 282519if you think i'm so fucking stupid then please do me favor and tell me why this "star" was rising in the west if you're so smart. My guess is that you were either drunk or hallucinating, or maybe you're just making stuff up to troll the thread. By the way, after I read your question about one star, I made a point of giving this thread one star, too; not because you're a fool, but because you're a potty-mouth who doesn't want to hear anything if it contradicts your pre-conceived notions. Where's the EVIDENCE, Jim? |

[link to fourmilab.ch] Here's a free planetarium program,if anybody knows of an on-line one feel free to let us know. Quoting: Duncan Kunzi was not drunk. i was not hullucinating. please get out of here. i'm asking honest questions and trying to get to the bottom of this and all you can do is put it down and say ignorant things such as, "there are no aliens" and "when planes land they ascend" and "you're just making things up" people like you will make themselves believe anything if you cant explain it inside of the box. anything out of the box doesn't even exist to you. i feel bad for you. |
