I am the Powerball winner
Hello...

I am the 314 million dollar Powerball winner, but I am actually kind of afraid of to come forward to claim my winnings until I figure out what kind of initial impact this is going to have upon my life. I've spent a lot of time fantasizing about this happening to me someday, and now that it has, I am at a loss as to what steps I need to take to protect myself from the onslaught of friends/relatives/sales people/con-artists, ect...

Can any of you please give me a short list of things that I need to consider BEFORE coming forward? Any good financial advisers here on this board, that might be able to clue me in, as far as things to do, and things to avoid?

Thanks a lot for any assistance.

Hi,

Buy lots of land on the country side. Build a house and move. Take the one lump sum option, that way you can leave
some to your family. Some in the bank, some in stocks.
Then go and smell the flowers I'm sure their scent is really sweet right about now.

Make a list of things that need your inmediate care; debts, near family if you are married and children college, look for a financial advisor, pick that check, run to a cooperative, you can help without been splendid to the rest of the family, if they need it, you know who and if he or she deserve the help. dont forget little donations to children and animals, dont give your name, after that ,i am looking to build a cabin in the mountains... im joking, maybe you will need to buy some land build a house with protection. be wise dont do anything in a hurry, bless you, good luck.

Well, this may be a tad different to your hope to hear; I would say that you need first to just have a holiday, travel and breathe in the places your heart is drawn to.
Ireland would be a good place to start.

Depending on your age; when something of such a potential 'power to sway us' for all the wrong reasons, ideally, wisdom will be your closest friend, confidente and counsellor.

The joy to give to others, without any praise or recognition will reward you with an inner joy that no Powerball win could equal.

If I were in your shoes to win such an amount; I would keep enough to either have an IVF child or adopt, and give the rest away; motherhood would forever be the riches I'd ever desire.

I wish you well; peace and happiness in your journey ahead.

get a good accountant and lawyer. Start a family foundation. I will be the first one 2 write a grant to your foundation for the Establishment of a US Department of peace and non-violence thepeacealliance.org and for my home state peacenm.com
Change the world with the money
I was visualizing winning the lottery and I even wrote a budget for a non-profit to be opened in my state.
I would then get on a boat, there is a cruise that lasts 2 yrs
and you go around the entire world. You could mange your foundation from the cruise...online...

Im a state co-coordinator for the us department of peace and non-violence for new mexico at this point we are all volenteers , we could do alot if we had some grant moneys....
Anyway...good luck, enjoy your life, love your family and use it to change the world...
love and peace

If you are truely a winner with that amount of money, you have made a huge mistake by coming onto glp or broadcasting that you have that kind of money.

I would get off, and get my family ready to protect them from the wolves that will be coming to your doors.

Re: I am the Powerball winner
1. Set up a living trust for your "estate"

2. Create and record a "share" agreement to be signed by all your relatives.

3. Assign contributions and rewards to each relative over the age of 18 in the living trust.

4. Get all family members social security information etc should be all recorded in share agreement

5. Tell lottery office winnings are part of a pool of tickets who the contributors were are the legal age relatives as listed in the living trust for the "estate".

6. Lottery office will divide the winnings to the relatives you indicate, this is much like the office pool winners.

7. After each individual has collected "their" portion of the winnings and paid "their" portion of the taxes, their balance of "their" winnings gets paid into the living trust.

8. The agreed share portion of the winnings is then redistributed back to the respective relatives according to the agreement.

Taxes paid and all legal aged relatives you wish to cover have received their portion

Your monies then should be held by a commercial bank, not a money market fund manager promising 10% return on your "investment" to grow your 100 million into 300 million.

If you have 100 million, no need to be greedy looking to make 300 million.

Just do the safe thing, open up multiple FDIC insured accounts in the name of the trust, your wifes name your name, your kids names etc Make sure to bank with only huge companies. Sure you could put 25k or 50k in multiple accounts in your local bank as well, use these for your Petty cash withdrawals.

Set some of your larger accounts to transfer the interest dividends into your small petty cash accounts at other banks.

You would be surprised what 1% of 10 million will make you in a year.

If you hire a "financial manger" make sure it is with a long standing company that offers no suggestion of risk management or investment capitalization etc.

You just need someone to keep track of all the accounts in various places and to keep track of all dividends earned to give to your tax attorney.

Expect to pay about $25,000 to $40,000 a year for this service.

You will need to hire a good tax firm expect to pay around $20,000 a year for your tax preparations.

Next create a budget, ideal is to base your cash depletion on 100 years. Say if you have about 50 years left to live that gives you a good safety margin and allows for a sizable chunk of money to be past down.

100 years times 1 Million a year in cash outlay is a lot to spend.

Have your financial manager rent you a temporary home to live in, preferably pre-furnished as well as pay for the utilities in the name of their firm ie Walsh & Walsh Financial services will be then name of the bill to on the utilities for the property. Store your retained personal belongings that you do not sell in a safe location.

Make a Corporation and assign one of your paid services (financial manager, tax attorney etc) to be the president of the corporation, with you as the chairman and CEO.

Create a new bogus trust account, called some random name, lilly flowers family trust etc.

Purchase everything now on in the name of the Corporation paid for by the family trust.

This conceals your identity to make it harder for someone to track you down based on your "assets".

Next sell everything in your name, your current home, cars etc sell everything. Pay off all existing debt.

Store your retained personal belongings that you do not sell in a safe location.

Now with that all in place go take a vacation, the above process by the way will take about a year, maybe faster if you currently live in the right area with access to some of the above services right away.

Take at least a month off, the first two weeks to enjoy your vacation spots of your choice.

The next two weeks to brainstorm about things that will affect your life, where to live, what to do, what to buy.

Maybe you will build a custom home somewhere ?
Maybe you will just buy an existing one ?
Maybe you will several homes in several states to visit family ?
Maybe you will move to a different country all together ?

While buying every kind of ferrari in theory sounds good, think about the logistics, where to store, what about insurance, how many can you drive at one time, what if x ferrari breaks down while driving it in the middle of the country, who are you going to call ? Ferrari busters ?

How big of a garage do you need to put all these cars bikes trucks and playtoy's in ?

How much land do you need ?

What cities can you find that kind of property in ?

Would you really be happy living on the side of the Colorado river in the middle of nowhere Arizona and have to drive 30 minutes just to go to the grocery store ?

Do you really want to be stuck in the middle of the mountains all winter having to drive the precarious 1 hour drive through snow and ice to go to the movies ?

Where will your kids go to school and how will you insulate them from other kids if they find out just how rich they are ?

Good luck, winning that much money is a huge burden.

1. TELL NO ONE - not even your children

2. See three high profile investment brokers, they get one third each, tell each one that after 3 years the one who has the highest return gets all the money to invest.

2.5 Tell your kids

3. Book a holiday through a travel agency as Mr/Mrs Smith in a secure resort for 30 days. (time to think)

4. DO NOT GO HOME.

5. While on holiday use the internet to research a comfortable but unassuming home in a new city, invite those friends you hope are REAL to a house warming, (pay their air fares) those who ask for money are not your friends.

6. If you live in America the larger the win the bigger you are a target.

7. research a new home/car/boat in the city/town where you really want to live, buy through intermediate broker, change your name, move, live happily.

8. buy your friends/relatives one gift they always wanted, JUST ONE, do not send money, no matter how much it will not be enough for them.

9. Find something you REALLY want to do.

Ps. You cannot buy love, if you didn't have a good relationship to begin with it will not get better, money will not buy the love of your children either.
