Homeless shelter living during the "virus "..LONG
This is kinda long, but detailed enough to really give you an idea of homeless shelter in Corona time!!

So I posted last week about having to go in the homeless shelter, after my failed attempt of believing a nationwide lockdown would get me trapped in the motel I've been living in the past 3 months, that hasn't come yet. Well totally drained of money as my little side jobs stopped because of this bullshit.

And I possibly posted again after that saying I found out that the shelter is refusing intakes as of last week and I would be screwed to get in 2 days ago. I say possibly posted that thread as I was getting drunk for the last bit of freedom I have, since you can't drink or drug in here ( they test often, 6 panel and breathalyzer? And not sure if I told yall that. If I did say that, then well, I GOT IN!! They like me as I look out for the shelter and I dont break the rules or fail the tests here. But the biggest reason is they said ive been self quarantining since January. Just work, get food, cigs and beer sometimes, and only my friend is the only one who ever come over sometimes. If anyone got mad I was here ( and I could see in their faces and question asking how I got in but nobody else can some were mad) to just say it is none of their concern.

Anyway I'm in, so I left 3 months ago when I had enough cash stacked to rent a room weekly and the jobs were steady. Ive been awake since 09,( glp had most to do with it) and the staff know I'm a conspiracy, think for yourself guy. Was just told not to start any panic, and I won't. I said if I'm asked what I think, I'll tell anyone.

This place is 3 buildings. Men, women, and women and children. I won't speak on the women and children, because they have no contact with us so I have no idea how things are going over there. I believe between these 2 buildings we can hold maybe 40 men and 20 women. Back and forth gypsying around the last 5 years, I have seen this place full, but I have never seen anyone turned down. Seems always a bunk will open, from someone leaving or getting kicked out.

We may have 28 people here between the men and the women!! Never seen it this empty. Ive been watching the virus on here since November or January. So to the rest of the sheep, when I left this place was just run normal. I come back and half the bunks are up front where is normally our lil common area. They have older and health problems people up there, with a huge ass piece of plastic with it cut down the middle. Same for women as well, as both of our buildings are the same.

Dining hall we really eat well as the churches come in and cook for us as they fund this place. Well as of last week nomore cook teams are allowed here. Staff and few of the homeless cook our food now. So now it is like we are eating at a soup kitchen lol.

Before we could sit anywhere. Now only 4 at a table with our name on the table and chair. So wherever you sat when this happened, that now your seat till this is over.

Which is funny to me because the guys can still smoke with the guys and the girls with the girls. And anytime before dinner you can sit at any table.

Through the week, you have to leave the dorm at 830 till 430,or sit in the kitchen allday. Now the dorms are open 247 since people are not supposed to be out and about and alot of people dont have jobs to go to now.

We can come and go as we please as long as we are back on property by 530. But we were all given a letter yesterday if the lockdown comes, and it is,if your job isn't essential and you leave the property, you cannot come back!!!

Most people here think there is a virus, half believe all the religious end of the world stuff, some don't give a shit about it or even understand what is going on,and a few of us don't believe a damn bit of it and see this is really being about something else.

I just wanted to let yall guys know what it is like to be homeless right now in a shelter during all of this. Any questions feel free to ask. I'd rather not say where I am at, even though some may have seen in other threads, other than NC. THIS is a great place one reason I didn't mind to be here, compared to other places I have seen or heard about.

So there ,from an awaken homeless glp lurker!!! Lol

Went in lockdown today at 5.but because we are in the shelter, we went into even more lockdown. If we leave besides an essential job, or hospital visits. We can't come back!!

Thanks for the details .... things have changed everywhere ... let us know how it goes as far as if anyone gets sick ... if they send people in to test you... who comes and goes

Good time to practice your cooking skills

Find a way to occupy yourself

Most of us are in apartments and houses alone or with 1 or 2 others

Not going out more than once a week

You are educated and sane enough to write a long, coherent post- why dont you have a steady job? Drugs or Alcohol? Just wondering- most of the time homeless shelter types have either severe addictions or mental issues.
