Mangosteen Juice is supposed to work wonders for people's health. Many people have had serious problems with their health alleviated by drinking this juice. It may help. It would be worth a try.

Yes, I swear by mangosteen, it has helped with many small health problems that I have had. I know it will help with serious problems also. Don't buy the watered down version at Costco or Sam's Club.

The University of Maryland Medical Center has a great reference site for Complementary and Alternative Medicine. They have pages for different ailments and what alternative treatments have been shown to work in research studies, and they have pages for all the different herbs, etc. telling what they are good for.

This is the link to their main index for the Complementary and Alternative Medicine, I'm sure there are pages for heart disease:

NOTHING will work if she will not tack the treatment AND get off of the pharX.

Agreed, pharmies suck big time, medical "ortho"-doxy is largely malignantly myopic, your should seek a good accupuncturist/chinese med. practitioner and DO what they advise. Their system of medicine (Ayurveda too) is at least 5000 yo and is based upon archatypical understanding of elemental energies and their interelationships and patterns of flux, harmony, and disharmony. Based upon these observations they have developed a keen sense of the proper use of natural theraputics (sun/moon light, breathing, exercise, water, bodywork, herbs, etc...). I'm just sying that I would trust a 5000+ yo empirical system rather than "modern" medicine based upon the results (or lack thereof) of its works (lab analysis and surgical techniques aside).

My 2cents:
New Chap CoQ10
New Chap E n' Selenium
Prologix - Mineral Supreme
Some good krill oil
Eat Kichari w/ lots of turmeric and some greens.
Raintree Nutrition - Myco +
New Chap Green & White Tea

Some heart herbs:
Saffron
Motherwort
Shatavari
Dan Shen
Arjuna
Hawrthorn

Herb wise if you have the money I would call Ron Teeguarden's Dragon Herbs and tell them you need to get a ticker working again and get some of the phat tonic herbs they have.

Get Raymon Grace's "Raymond Grace Energizes Water" DVD [link to www.lifeenrichmentseminars.com]
and program the water to heal your grandmother (remember to word your intent with focus and full of care), or have her program it. (Have her)Drink it, rub it on the chest area. Say AH...

Re: Grandmother suppose to die of congested heart failure in months. Is there any nutrition that reverses heart failure???
I don't know anything about the nutients suggested here (not up to par on that), but I can tell you my mother in law just had congestive heart failure so bad, we almost lost her. They gave her some kind of medication in an IV in the hospital (mandatory for treatment) that drained her. They then gave her a pacemaker to aid the heart in pumping more efficiently. She is doing better now (but still tired and recooping at home). They drained her of 30 Lbs. of fluid (and she was already on water pills).
She had a heart attack after bypass surgery (about 5 years after). Her heart with this bought of CHF was operating at 25%, and now is up to 38% and still improving :).
If your Grandmothers kidneys or liver are in trouble, this may complicate things, and your doctor could even feel that this treatment would not work if that is the case.

Just make sure you speak to her doctor before trying anything, and clear it with her :)!
You would'nt want to be giving her things that could compromise her condition anymore than it is currently, and you would'nt want to run a possible reaction with other meds her Dr. is, or may treat her with, because he does'nt know what is being given to her by the family :)!

You may be lucky and have a Dr. that is willing to try holostic treatments, you'd be suprised, sometimes all you have to do is ask:)!
Will pray for your Grandmother:)!
Peace
God Bless

Re: Grandmother suppose to die of congested heart failure in months. Is there any nutrition that reverses heart failure???
I hope you are reading through all replies... I do not have time to go through everything so forgive me if I am repeating info.

I work for a naturopathic doctor - German trained - very sharp. He gives his clients a hydrosoluable CO-Q-10 which has a much higher degree of bioavailability. CO-Q-10 in dry form, most CO-Q-10's off the shelf are not any where near as potent as physician grade CO-Q-10... We sell Xymogen brand CO-10... there are others that are comparable but this one is really potent. See Xymogen.com

She may also want to consider fish oil. I can never remember if the EPA or DHA in fish oil is the one for the heart. The other is for the brain. Either way you can find fish oils with an even balance of the two and that is just as good. Nordic Naturals sells a very clean one. BE SURE THE FISH OIL YOU TAKE STATES THAT IT HAS BEEN TESTED FOR AND HAS VERY LOW LEVELS OF HEAVY METALS otherwise you will compound your problems!!! Many health food stores carry high quality fish oils. (Heavy metals are the cause of many illnesses in our world today. Anyone who suffers some form of nervous system dysfunction would do well to get tested to see if they are high in mercury or lead as well as other metals.)

That is all I can remember for now...

Hopefully this has been of help.

Re: Grandmother suppose to die of congested heart failure in months. Is there any nutrition that reverses heart failure???
for enzymes you can make sure she has this broth two times per day:
POTASSIUM BROTH:

Using only organic vegetables fill a large pot with:
25% potato peelings
25% carrot peelings
25% whole chopped beets
25% celery and dark greens
Chopped onions
25-50 garlic cloves Hot pepper to taste.

Cover vegetables with water and simmer on low temperature for 1 to 2 hours.
Strain and drink only the broth. It can be saved in the refrigerator for 2 days
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 292332

this will do it!!!!!

throw in a colon cleanse and the diet should consist of all natural stuff... limit processed foods

drink water (and that broth... that is full of minerals that will totally cleanse and charge the blood)(i dont know if enzymes can live through the cooking process but it is definately full of other good stuff, she may need a good enzyme pill from like gnc... they have pretty good ones with multiple enzymes in them)

if she cant take the garlic and hot pepper(cayenne is great, also habanero but there is something special about cayenne) in the broth feed it to her seperately, like 1-2 cloves 6 times a day(crushed)initially (maybe a few weeks)then a maintenance dose of 1-2 cloves a day should keep her tip top(throw it in some guacamole or something...yummy and very healthy), i find that tea helps knock out the burn pretty well without having to add sugar(for the initial garlic load). the garlic will kill alot of pests ect that her body is battling and then it will be able to heal better.

anytime she is looking bad like the heart is going to fail pop some cayenne in her mouth till she wakes up... like a spoon at a time and some water if it dont help in a few minutes give more...
instant adrenaline pump... i think the stuff can wake the dead, really...

iodine is the hardest mineral to absorb, your ph needs to be close to perfect to assimilate iodine...that she isnt absorbing it tells me the ph is off...

balance the ph by feeding an all natural diet(mostly vegetable),you may want to invest in a ph tester to really dial it in...

Re: Grandmother suppose to die of congested heart failure in months. Is there any nutrition that reverses heart failure???
I have taken COQ10 for years, needed a second job once and worked in a health food store. I asked alot of folks why they took things. One person suggested I try COQ10, just 30 mg a day for a month and see what I thought. So I tried it. I had more energy, whatever I thought about doing I had the energy to do it., I read up on it and found that it was originally used in Japan. It's good for gum disease, sometimes helping to decrease the size of peridontal pockets. It is also a nutrient for the heart, and other tissues. We manufacture our own, but as we grow older, we don't produce as much. Some medications that are prescribed to lower cholesterol, can interfer with our bodies' ability to produce it, ( I heard a nutritionist say that Doctors who prescribe these medications should be having their patients take additional COQ10) In any case, they have done studies that have found the COQ10 levels in MI patients and CHF patients are low. When I was researching it, I only found one listing in the PDR (Physician's DesK Reference) for Coenzyme Q10. So Japan was way ahead of us, on that one. I like the liquid gel caps, but lately have taken a COQ10 combo from GNC that has Pycnogenol and L Carnitine as well. I found it on sale today. But I usually get mine from True Nature. I take it for energy and also for my gums. I was told years ago I would lose my teeth by my 40's because of gum disease. I love my teeth. But I researched this for myself
and this is what works for me. I know it works for CHF.
But there are other factors. Usually there is a backup of fluids in the body, because the heart has been weakened. With congestive heart failure the heart becomes too weak to pump out the blood, so it begins to back up the fluid portion of the blood, into the lungs. The fluid bubbles in the airways and interfers with the ability to breath effectively. Often starts with a cough that is nonproductive, if it isn't treated the cough may be come productive and eventually if left untreated it can become blood tinged as some of the red blood cells are backed up into the airways as well. It isn't a peaceful, gentle passing and you do need you physician. Sometimes we apply positive airway pressure and oxygen to help while your Dr. gives a diuretic, like lasix to help you get rid of fluid. Sometimes the medicine and quick flush can make you thirsty....if you turn around and drink alot...you may not get the relief you need. Not being able to breath well and hearing the fluid ass you breath can be very scarey. Best to address what's causing it as soon as possible. Be sure your doctor is on board with COQ10, and if he doesn't know about it, ask him to look it up in his PDR. Aloha

Re: Grandmother suppose to die of congested heart failure in months. Is there any nutrition that reverses heart failure???
DO NOT do the potato-skin recommendation someone posted, potato skins have a blatant toxin and the 'eyes' and green layer under the skin have evil toxic drugs in them like hyoscyamine - it's just a scam to get you to pay good money for the industrial waste leftover from the canned and frozen potato industries that must dispose of their toxic inedible peelings that even the livestock industries won't buy from them for cattle feed by packaging them as "nutritional supplements". Don't buy leftover industrial waste at "supplement" prices.

nobody has mentioned 'Nettles'. A little of that, and a little potassium from parsely, and you will feel better; good enough to dig deeper on your own.

But the recommendations you've been getting here, do a google, put the substance they recommended + "MLM" or "network marketing" and you will see it's all "AMWAY" type brainwashed zombie disinfo by company reps and their gullible droids.

There's a company in Oregon called "Herb Pharm", and they were reputable until 1991 or so when they got greedy and started watering down their tinctures. Even still their formulas might still be trustworthy, just greatly dilluted from their glory days. They take serious chances, putting such toxic things as Mistletoe in their cardiac formulas based on their valid competence to deliver the correct needful dosage.

But screw them, I still say start with Nettles extract and potassium from parsely, not the popular but worthless banana-potassium myth, and afterwards you can see how you feel and adjust your strategy.

And cayenne is not a healer, i don't care what any "expert" says. It is a cardiac irritant, it makes your heart beat faster but not as deep, and that may lower the top half of your BP measurement, but that's the least important part, it's the bottom part that gives you strokes and it means you stuff too much salt in your pie-hole, but this is NOT a tonic effect, it is a toxic irritant effect. Also cayenne precipitates Gout and other arthritic symptoms. I crave red pepper myself sometimes, it is useful for opening circulation in limited circumstances, but cayenne is NOT "good for you".

CoQ10?, I was right there when the fad started 20 years ago. 10mg a day made me more cheerful. Increasing the dose brought me down, way down. Now you can only buy high dose capsules??? This is knowing and deliberate subterfuge, maybe by drug interests ruining formerly viable options. this crap is ONLY beneficial in trace amounts. The so-called "window" effect where too much is worse than none at all.

It's extracted from "Solanaceous plants" like potato and tobacco, did you know that?

SCREW the recommendations you got in this thread, get some herbal drops of Stinging Nettle, get some potassium from Parsely NOT from pills, stop eating stuff with MSG/Monosodium Glutamate, do that and you will improve enough to google further facts from a standpoint of hope instead of fear.

Grammy doesn't have to die just yet. When you prepare her food, soak the meat in two or three changes of water to get the chemicals out of it before cooking, then finally cook it by boiling. If she has problems going to the bathroom, she probly won't admit it, but give her tea made out of prunes or raisins. Brussels Sprouts are a green leafy veg high in minerals and they also loosen your bowels.

Do all the above, don't get suckered by MLM reps of debateable "supplements".

Please consider this: Even If I were completely WRONG(which I'm NOT), I didn't advise anything that could harm Grammy. So don't think about it, just do it. These elders took care of you when you were just little kids, and now it falls upon you to help THEM, and they're trusting you to do so. So don't "think" about it, just *DO* it. We've got the rest of Eternity to be dead, it doesn't have to start NOW.

Re: Grandmother suppose to die of congested heart failure in months. Is there any nutrition that reverses heart failure???
More than 95% of the replies to the O.P. are the tired old bullshit that dribbles out of the mouths of hillbilies that don't have the vaguest idea of which they speak.

I have lived with heart failure for nine years now. Once HF becomes congestive, if the patient is older than 50 years old, there is NOTHING to dramatically increase life expectancy.

Salt intake is necessary to keep fluid out of the lungs (as much as possible) and the intake of water must be restricted, rather than encouraged because the body, including the lungs tend to retain water when the heart pump is no longer strong enough to distribute blood to the rest of the body.

All of the homeopathic and herbal solutions that have been offered in this thread have a variable, but negligible effect on heart patients and mostly on patients who have coronary artery disease (CAD), which explains why stroke patients and those who tend to have blocked arteries may benefit in minor ways.

Once the pump begins to fail, a decline begins in the body that can be stopped either temporarily by a mechanical heart (a cumbersome and noisy machine known as a LAD) which is powered by cables that protrude throught the skin and flesh in one's side and are charged by exterior batteries.

When the heart pump slips below a 25% ejection fracture (normal is about 75%), one is usually placed on a waiting list for a heart transplant. The priority patients are judged by age, strength and the ability to withstand the rigorous and poor quality of life following such surgery.

Note: E.F. a term which is measured most precisely by a
cardiac catheter procedure when the symptoms of failure (shortness of breath, fatigue, fluid in the lungs and frothing at the mouth) are present.

Diuretics may be prescribed to eliminate liquid waste more efficiently so that the fluid doesn't end up in the lungs. In the end what occurs is that the pump (left ventricle) becomes to weak to handle the blood coming through the right chamber and the excess blood backs up into the lungs, causing them to fill, causing the patient to drown in their own fluids or the stress on the pump to supplu oxygenated blood to the rest of the body causes an M.I. (heart attack) from overexertion.

It should be obvious by now that since CHF is largely a malfunction of the mechanics of the heart (as opposed to the chemistry, rhythm or blockage, which is a result of plaque, caused by cholesterol, smoke and other factors), the only way to treat the end stage disease and keep the patient comfortable is to restrict dietary intake (salt, fluids), intervene surgically with a temporary pumping device (which serves to keep the patient alive until a donor heart alive) or to restrict the activities of the patient, keep him/her in an upright position most of the time, keep the legs elevated to prevent fluid (blood and water) from pooling around the ankles and calves and sedate the patient (xanax) to treat the anxiety a person would normally feel when breathing becomes difficult and the patient knows that the process is irreversible. Of course plenty of rest and stress avoidance is necessary to keep the heart from being overworked.

In the case of most elderly patients the previous course of treatment is the most commonly used. I should know: My Dad's dad, my Dad, his brother, his sister and two male cousins (also on the paternal side of the family) have been diagnosed with and eventually died from CHF, as early as the tender age of 59.

I will soon be 55 and my HF (left ventricle/pump weakness with NO lung (fluid) involvement has begun to "go" congestive over the past eighteen months. My heart is enlarge for the first time since diagnosis in 1999 and my E.F. % has declined (worsened) since my last echocardiogram and thallium stress test about twenty months ago. I now have to be treated with oxygen 24/7 due to increasing shortness of breath and fatigue. I enjoy 6-8 "good hours per day.

I took the time to write this because I have seen first hand what this disease does and I know what works and what doesn't. Trust me, a family with a cardiac history like mine has tried EVERYTHING.

Those who suggested CoQ10 and the usual laundry list of OTC products have some confusion about the difference between Congestive Heart Failure and Coronary Artery Diseases (of which there are many forms, each with it's own list of helpful products).

Two years before the first sign of heart damage at age 36, I married a critical care BSN RN nurse who now has a Masters Degree in Nursing Ed (Med/Surg & Critical Care), so I know from experience that my testimony is factual and have only lived this long because my DW noticed the avalanche of symptoms as they occured and has been a step or two ahead of the doctors while we've battled HF/CHF for nearly twenty years.

I hope that O.P. and others who may not know better will "take to heart" the practical wisdom I am sharing from the standpoint of both experience and knowledge and don't discount the value of professional medical care in favoe of mail order products from the coupon section of the Sunday newspaper.

Our best to the family of the Grandmother in crisis and a prayer for the patient and the attending physicians.
