Show Mom this thread....maybe she'll give it to you out of shame.......Oh, and never buy or sell anything to a friend or relative...that is rule number 1. You can thank me later...

We've gotten 3 cars from relatives. 2 were total pieces of junk & 1 was in good shape. We only had to pay for 1 & that was the one that was in good shape. She let us make payments on it since she knew we didn't have much money with us all the time.

What about the Yugo?

A car that seems to have been assembled at gunpoint.

Maybe Grandpa hid his 200 thousand under the rear seat. The rear seats are easily removed.....most rear seats come out with a good pull and then go back in.

it's got 125,000 kms or close to it, pretty good condition as my grandpa used to own it and rarely drove it, now it's in my moms possession. i asked for a deal as i'm poor, have no house, no spousal support. was hoping to buy for around 5-600, she would go as low as $1250, gee thanks mom. Good deal or waste of money?

R U Hi? don't dare pay that much for that. unless you want it for nostalgia or sentimental value, like your grandfather died in a wreck delivering your mother to the hospital to give birth to you

I bought an 86' that I still drive for $300.00 from a old church lady in Pennsylvania about 7 years ago and only had 96,000 miles on it. I drove it to New Orleans and have brought it back there and back to New Orleans where I still drive it.
That particular year of that vehicles make was in the middle of a 3 year collaboration with Maserati, where the German"Bosh" transmission was introduced, that solved the horrid transmission problems that almost killed Plymouth in the 80's.The same engines where in a large variety of Plymouth / Chrysler cars.
I have to let mine go soon, 2 floods I was forced to drive through have caused a Rear-main-Seal leak and electrical problems due to those floods, is too expensive to fix.
Over all, it was a great car.. Still runs but a $$ sink-hole with the damage I put it through.. Otherwise I would expect another 10 years outta it.
Watch out for salted roads it will cause extensive Damage to the undercarriage also.
Tell your mom to get real...

Gawd...the K car. I had forgotten about those pieces of crap. Fuck NO! $1250 for one new in 86 would have been too much.

Truth is, the K-car saved Chrysler. They were cheap and reliable. Good basic transportation. There was even a New Yorker model that had, for it's time, all of the luxury amenities of the time. However, you'd be letting yourself be cheated if you paid more than $750 for it, regardless of mileage and condition and sentimental value.

Honestly,it's worth a hundred bucks at the scrapyard. There is bound to be something wrong with it and you will sink every penny into that money pit. Should you get it for free however, run it as long as you can. Otherwise, it is worth literally nothing for resale. Your mother sounds like she is a rotten cunt. She knows your financial predicament and is enjoying fucking you over. She should just give it to you for free, it was paid off twenty years ago. Actually, the old cunt should just buy you a good little modern car for a couple thousand bucks to help you out as that's what a good mother would do. A rotten cunt mother tries to make a few bucks off her poor children. Fuck her, do not buy that car.

Also... I had to pay $ 300.00 (Tax for Kelly blue book used value) for registration here in New Orleans...
Might not apply to you but if so, add that to the $1250.00....
Not worth it then. Plus if the air conditioning doesn't work, add another $ 600 to that.. You might not need it though in Canada. (or rarely).

That's not a bad price if it's in good condition. But you gotta get it lowered with some chrome rims to pimp it out ...or everyone will think you're an encyclopedia salesman.

Dude it's a Classic gotta be worth at least $2000. I would jump on it as an investment. Let it sit for another 25yrs and sell it for $3000. See I is always thinking.
To each is own...
