Maybe God arranged events so that they would be like ancient mythology in order to help the people of those times relate to the Gospel message. The culture of ancient times wasn't like the culture of modern times, so contemporary forms of communication would not be useful in giving such a profound message to the world at that particular time. Along the same lines, Jesus Christ would use the culture and language of our times if the events of the New Testament took place today. That's JMHO.
