Blunt Announces Missouri Maintains Highest Bond Rating

Standard and Poor's Reports Missouri Maintains AAA Bond Rating

JEFFERSON CITY – Gov. Matt Blunt announced today that Missouri is one of only six states with the highest bond rating according to Standard and Poor’s. Gov. Blunt said Missouri has continued to maintain its AAA bond rating as a result of the state’s high level of reserves and strong financial management.

Standard and Poor’s said this week that Missouri will retain its AAA bond rating, which means bonds issued by Missouri are judged to be of the highest quality by investors. These bonds also carry the smallest degree of investment risk. Standard and Poor’s is viewed as the authoritative source for state bond ratings.

According to the Standard and Poor’s Report, “Missouri’s economy’s greatest strength is its diversity, which is based partly on the state’s location at the geographic center of the nation, which gives it an economic advantage in trade and manufacturing.”

Missouri is one of only six states with the highest bond rating according to Standard and Poor’s. The others include Delaware, Georgia, Maryland, Utah and Virginia.

As part of its analysis of Missouri, Standard and Poor’s reported on the governor’s efforts to overhaul the state’s Medicaid program by emphasizing primary care in the expectation that expenditure reductions will affect state budgets in the future.

“It is critical that our state continue to support pro-jobs, pro-growth polices that provides opportunities for all Missourians to follow their dreams,” Blunt said. “With the assistance of the General Assembly, over the past two and a half years, we have successfully increased economic opportunities for all Missourians.”

My brother is in the National Guard in New England. He just received a phone call telling him to show up tomorrow at 7AM at the Armory. He is in the MPs, and his unit has just been called-up.

My police scanner is programmed with FEMA frequencies, and I have been hearing constant encrypted traffic since about 7PM this evening. The state police here have issued some radio code over the air that I haven't heard before. my neighborhood has had cop cars with cops in riot gear driving up and down the road every 15 minutes.

Just now a national guard(?) helicopter has flown over my house.
