ALAN KEYES JUMPS IN REPUBLICAN PRESIDENTIAL RACE

Greetings,
Looks like the republican presidential field has one more contender. Alan Keyes announced that he is jumping in the race. Keyes is a great orator. And quite conservative. But taking a quick look at his site it appears that he is a NEO-CON. Though a very eloquent one.

He is likely to pull some African American votes away from Barrak Obama. Thus improving Hillarys chance of being nominated. He may also pull a some votes from Ron Paul in the republican primary. But he is more likely to pull votes from the other corporate neo-con candidates.

So on balance it would seem a positive development for the Ron Paul campaign. But it seems he may be welcomed into the race in order to go after Ron Paul on the Iraq war issue.

We will have a chance to see in the upcoming "Values Debate" in Ft Lauderdale this coming monday. Keyes has said he will be participating.

The problem is, you can't pull votes away from Ron Paul. People that support RP are usually polar opposites from people who support the neocons. Ron Paul could run around naked, covered in peanut butter and he still wouldn't lose any votes.

Great news, I think he is great. Of coarse I liked Buchanan too. Keyes would be a great running mate for Dr. Paul. He is a great speaker, so if someone, like say Rudy, tries to make him look bad. Keyes will be able to slam him down with his superior vocabulary and oratory skills.

Keyes also IS rather hawkish and Neo-Conish so it helps the GOP to have someone speaking of the Constitution to sound like just another flavor of Neo-Con because then Ron Paul won't appear to 'stand out' from the crowd so starkly and everyone can shift right back into the false Left Right Republican Democrat paradigm and say "Yeah he's no different".

How do I know Keyes is a schill?

Well I live in IL and the GOP has imported him before to run for offices where he has no logical claim to run, just to help the party - hence he's in their pockets.

Plus....he used to regularly sub for Rush Limbaugh - yeah ok need I say anything more?

A quick perusal of Keyes' website shows me a few things....

- No mention of getting rid of the Federal Reserve
- No mention of cutting ANY departments
- Only mention of the Constitution is in reference to campaign finance reform, gun rights, and a mandate to provide for the common defense (a reference to the preamble, which incidentally confers no powers to the govt.)
- Nothing about the police state, civil liberties, habeas corpus, national ID card (Real ID), warrantless spying, wiretapping, etc.
- Nothing about honest money - i.e., gold and silver coin
- Seeks to replace the IRS and income tax with an unconstitutional national sales tax.
- Wants to place porn, abortion, drug abuse, queer marriage and other social issues within the jurisdiction of the Congress. (He's a Constitutionalist? Really??!) I have very strong opinions about ALL of these issues....but one thing we should all be able to agree on is that the Fed is given NO power to legislate in these areas.

To me he's a likable neo-con, an honest guy, with a misunderstanding of the Constitution. He's a centrist, who would continue the same old Republican song-and-dance we inherited from Lincoln - protectionist tariffs, strong central govt, centrally controlled monetary system, corporate welfare, and of course, unnecessary war.

man, the Repubs debates are so much more interesting than the Demos Ron Paul .... critical of Bush's war policy Rudy .... pro choice - light on immigration Romney ... mormon and heavy on immigration now Keyes who will be all over everywhere you can't be in the Demo party if you don't tow the line ... imagine if a pro-life Demo canidate tried to be in the debates ... it would not be allowed

While I think your profile pic is hilarious, I would disagree about the relative inclusiveness of the two parties. I just came from the Texas Straw Poll, where the message was basically, if you don't like the war...there's the door.

Lots of self-congratulatory rhetoric about supporting the troops, fiscal responsibility, the blessed Patriot Act, and beating the evil democrats. NOTHING about the event was introspective or a call to return to the Constitution. Just vague promises of small govt, better leadership, and lots of get-out-the-vote, anti-Hillary cheerleading.

Ron Paul and his MANY supporters at the event were squirming in their seats as it was repeatedly emphasized that "This is the party of Lincoln." If by that they mean that the R party is full of statist, war mongering, political profiteers who would sell the taxpayers up the river to serve well-connected corporate interests and prop up the warfare/welfare state....then yes, this is indeed the "party of Lincoln."

Nothing about the Republican establishment, nor the right-wing media, leads me to believe that the R party is ready to welcome back the independents, Constitutionalists, peacemakers, and other disillusioned former Republicans into the tent.
