American politicans have so confused the citizens about democracy that most people think we are one. We are not. We are a constitutional republic, where we elect representatives to do our bidding. A democracy, on the other hand, is one step away from military rule. In our constitutional republic the supreme power rests with the citizens, although lately it seems our representatives have decided to represent themselves at the expense of the citizenry. Our present administration, while touting the need for democracies everywhere, is indeed about to turn our country into one if we, the citizens, don't do something NOW to stop him.
