City looks at cutting police, fire

A 66% increase in water-sewer rates has been twinned with $6.66 million in spending cuts as part of a five-year plan to bring Port Huron out of its budget crisis.

The cuts include six jobs in the fire department and three in the police department. The city also would reduce its marina subsidy and eliminate lifeguards at Lakeside and Conger beaches.
