I personally think it is primarily genetic but that childhood experiences are very important too; like bonding with the mother but not the father.

Same sex attraction is usually something people are born with, just like being straight. The question posed by this thread is as ridiculous as saying being straight is due to being being sexually abused as children. As usual, the subtext of the question implies that same sex attraction is somehow wrong or bad by using false information to create ridiculous stereotypes in peoples minds that dehumanise gay people. Nazi's did the same thing to Jewish people, gypsies, etc.

Are these the same psychologists and psychological studies that classified homosexuality as a perversion and disease until the 1970's? Up until 1992 the World Health Organization categorized homosexuality as a mental illness. Why the changes? it is only in recent history that Homosexuality has been condemned probably more due to the popularity of the Jewish Septuagant (Jewish Law) which was melded with Xianity. Also one of the greatet warriors in history, Alexander the great, was gay, and the Roman army promoted relations between men. Ancient Greeks thought nothing of relatons between men. Also homosexulatity in Arab countries (based on an NPR report on a new documentary about the subject) is also only recently condemned by Islam...but it's still there.

True, we would need to find similar statistics for homosexuals and see if more than 1 in 4 lesbians and more than 1 in 6 gay males, have been sexually abused.
I don't have any links or facts in hand, but I don't think there is a higher prevalence of abuse in homosexuals. You will probably find similar rates of abuse across the board.
