Computer HELP PLEASE.....!!!

My computer (which has been fine for a couple of years) just quit working. I opened it up and cleaned the dust out of it yet still, nothing. I checked the power cord and it is working alright so I guess computers just die. I don't know what happened. It was fine one day, no power the next. Guess I'll be calling the geek squad.

Sometimes it seems as if I spend my whole time trying to repair the damn computer...then it`s fine again and then for no apparent reason it fucks up again...



I`m going back to book reading !

Something I notice too when I check my connection status is that I recieve more "packets" than the damn thing sends....how does this happen ?



I`ve tried many things to repair this...computer restore etc but to no avail

Let's see if we can diagnose the problems quickly and harmlessly.

Are you people using Vista or XP?

Left click on the start button. Move the mouse over My Computer and click your right mouse button and then left click properties. Click that one and tell me what you see.

check your power supply,.. that may be all you need, make sure all fans are working inside too, once you get powere restored see if your cpu fan is working you comp may have a temperature "auto shut off" if your cpu gets too hot. power supplies arent expensive and neither are cpu/vent fans.

make sure you have all the updated drivers for your system, and an updated directX, try that first.

also you might have too many processes running at once, too much for your ram to handle.

yeah, 99% sure your power supply crapped out. you can buy a new one for around $100. Make sure you get one rated at least 400w or higher.

User ID: 285686's problem is probably hardware. That person has a blue or black screen on power up.

Tell me what your puter is, we can go step by step to resolve this problem.

That's my kind of fix I put on my big boots and let it have a few good thumps and try again... But the case is starting to look bad with all the boot prints on it...

Also, if you have a vid card perhaps that might be on the fritz.
