George Lucas planning Star Wars TV series
Attention TV executives: The Force may soon be with you.

Filmmaker George Lucas said Tuesday that he has "just begun work" on a live-action television series rooted in the "Star Wars" universe which is huge news not just for fans of the science-fiction epic but also for networks looking for a piece of the Lucas magic that has grossed $4.3 billion in theaters worldwide.

There is a caveat though: The proposed series doesn t have anyone named Luke or Anakin in it a story path that Lucas concedes is "taking chances" as far as connecting with an audience expecting the familiar mythology.

He should also reconsider shooting the last three episodes.

i remember that i think.Wasnt it mostly done with ewoks or wookies?Or did that one come later?

I think this new series is going to be a new franchise and that it will release about the same time as the next star wars universe video game.(xbox 360 rocks!)

Dunno.. the notion is sound, except that programs such as star trek showed us that going off on tangent story lines never really works out that well.

This has been floating about the Star Wars Official Fan Message Forums for years since Episode III.

Insiders that showed up in the forums, hinted at the story line being set some fifty years after the end of Return of the Jedi.

Luke Skywalker as well as Jade Skywalker will be doing walk on appearances time to time. The Plot deals with the re-establishment of the Jedi Schools and the Republic with the forces of the Empire still controlling sectors of space.

Star Wars holiday special...yeah, I remember it. I'm quite sure George Lucas wishes everyone else would forget it!! As far as a weekly series George Lucas really needs to get hold of Temuera Morrison (whose is greatly underrated as an actor) to play a recurring role as Boba Fett, either working as an enforcer for Jabba the Hut or as a bounty hunter:

Re: George Lucas planning Star Wars TV series
There's nothing wrong with what GL is doing. Are people seriously panning remakes when everything coming out of Hollywood is a rehash of a rehash? Ocean's 13 was the second sequel of a remake. For God's sake. At least Star Wars is always original. The galaxy has a 25,000 year history. Luke is a blip on the map.

BTW, Luke married a woman named Mara Jade. She was recently murdered at the hand of Han and Leia's son, Jacen Solo. Jacen is a bad boy, but no one knows that.

Re: George Lucas planning Star Wars TV series
Well, with the Solo kids as adults, start with the NJO (New Jedi Order) with Vector Prime. It's when a deadly race invade the galaxy and start a war. It's 19 books, and it's very well written.

Also, George didn't do the holiday special. Fox did it, and they had creative license at the time. He didn't own the franchise back then.
