there have been credible reports from at least 5 dif. states the past few days of fireballs streaking thru the sky. the latest from oregon, said it was heading to the northwest, like it is coming from the direction of the comet. wonder what it means? debris from the comet being impacted? |

What if it is not a comet? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 318145 any theories on what it could be? could they be saying it's the holmes comet because it is known to be in these parts at this time? things just dont add up about this whole comet thing, and these fireballs in the sky, tho people see them from time to time, sure has been alot of them the past few days. i'm confused. like to hear some theories on what people may think is going on. |

Ooops sorry it should have been about 160 million miles, not 1.6 million:
The comet is now moving away from the sun and currently is quite far out from Earth at a distance of 151 million miles (243 million kilometers). Not exactly a recipe for the typical show-off comet.
[link to www.space.com]
That would make the necessary speed for debris a hundredfold greater than I stated above, I would say that's not very likely then that it already can arrive here!!! I am here to challenge your indoctrinated false belief that flaming queens don't use shovels ... |

This object, busily minding it's own business, is displaying VERY unusual behaviour.
Why?
Impact? What are the odds of an object that small, hitting an equally sized object in the vastness of space?
OK, it can happen, I agree, but the odds, what are they?
Some sort of energy out there, disrupting the structure of the comet? Making it do what it has done?
I'll go with that myself. much more likely that some all encompassing field of energy, has hit the object and caused it to do this, than a couple of bullets, in the vast vast spaces out there actually meeting.
that's MY take on it. |
