if we had teleportation technology, the only way we could use it to traverse space is to shoot gate B into chosen solar systems orbit and transport, the time it would take for gate B to reach said star system would cause the anomaly in time such that gate B in solar system B would appear to of been in orbit for a very long time to the residents of planet B, our first excursion having seen gate B reach its destination could be immediate from our planet A viewpoint.

you can see it in florida where i am. we have clouds all over, since 5 days now 24h a day. it's awful...i'm unable to see the comet. and i bet that, as soon as the comet is gone, the clouds will vanish...what a "coincidence" Quoting: Anonymous Coward 317946

From what i understand, there is a comet and it is not in earth orbit and it is 150 million miles away and no where near us. Then why is it of such importance that requires many to start a woo woo.
Could it possibly be in a different orbit?
Could it change its orbit? is that possible?
Could it do anything else that would justify all this woo woo?

Basically the hype started cause never before it was seen that a comet brightens up by a factor of a million within 24 hours, it can't be caused by the sun as it's on the way out, it literally exploded all of a sudden.
Regarding orbit change I think both possible causes means 'self'-explosion through an unknown energy wave or whatever or being hit by an object will cause a more or less small path change, we can't tell yet if it could get dangerous for earth in future passes hence. I only can say that it would need more than a 70 degree turn to hit earth in the near future and that's extremely unlikely IMO.
Astronomers are clueless so far what really happened.

funny thing about all this story
the comet was coming here before it exploded sure, but how many times have you seen news about comets before they get visible on skies (in naked eye I mean)?
This one did show in some news (including glp) before it exploded. 1 or 2 days latter... Boom! Funny isn't it? |

Quite a different approach, but does make one wonder about the effect our collective consciousness has on our expanded environment. What if this galactic phenomenon is our way of reminding ourselves that we have a cosmic date with destiny? We haven't come up with all this apocalyptic clap trap for nothing, there is something on the horizon. Surely we would create a few triggers to get us focused on the correct threat, which is the shift our solar system is experiencing, as opposed to politics or global warming. A reminder of the real issue, perhaps? |

As Holmes is currently about the same distance from earth as the sun the delay was only in the 10 minutes range so this has no significance ...
