good pics on that forum ricker. what strikes me is it's light expanding but it's mass doesn't seem any smaller or less dense. i don't know much about comets, but the pictures don't seem cometlike to me at all. |

this is comin from the one who didnt know her right from left when lookin for the comet past 2 nites, ok, just went down and looked in the right direction, cloud bank. so i looked at the very bright and sparkly star i had seen the past 2 nites n.w., pretty high on horizon, and it looked like it moved. so i looked at another star, to gauge it, and it WAS moving. to the east, and it had lights, seemed blue and red on its right side and they would flash like 3 times, a rhythm, ba dah dah bump. fast. it was moving pretty fast, turned southeast. it was not a plane. i ran back down to where i could look at where it had been just in case i was in error, and sure nuf, the very bright sparkly star was gone. GONE. i have never ever seen a ufo or anything like it. i believed they existed, but never thought i'd see one. it was parked there in the same place 2 nites. sorry so long winded, but i feel like this has to do with the comet because usually i'm pretty on the ball and i duh, looked nw and there was this "star", and i knew good and well it was to the ne the comet. but both nites, i see this thing. it's an OMEN i tell ya!!!!wow. i'm blown away. |

Strange that one year ago, we GLPers we're discussing the strange Dark Anomoly that was found at SOHO on the LASCO 3 pictures. That one was never explained. Wonder if this one will be the same. It was clouded out here in Minneapolis last night, but I got a view of it tonight. And wow! It is still growing! In the first 24 hours after I saw it, it doubled. In the past 36 hours, it's easily doubled in apparent size again. Extremely close to the Moon right now, but it seems to be taken on at least a cometary appearance now with the naked eye, the 'fuzzball' type of comet. Under binoculars, it's amazing. That weird yellowish glow, and the way it's growing night after night after night. Never seen anything like it. This is going to one of the cometary events of our lifetimes. Check it out, and I'd recommend soon, because the brightness seems to have leveled off, if not declined slightly. But it will still be naked eye for a couple weeks probably, if it doesn't have another outburst, like Holmes did back in 1893. |

Here in Md the rain stopped today. We had like 40 days without rain been in a drought don't ya know. It started to rain the day the comet showed up so I got my first look at it and WOW. Its very naked eye. The moon is very bright and it does'nt seem to matter. In binocs my wife and I agree it has a green hue. Watching it for about 10 min. so cool looks like stuff coming off of it. How big is the halo? looks big
