There are signs in the Heavens, and in the Earth, and many nations are at war, albeit a subliminal, or secret type, of war. There are rumors of wars too. The waves have been roaring, and many people have fallen away from Jesus, the Gospel. And most churches do not preach truth.
Now we see this wild and exciting massive comet transition.
I, just am, putting two and two together..
There are about 3 possible outcomes.
A New Earth..
Wormwood. ( satan fall, and his angels with him? )
Just another sign.
I will give my opinion, as the days go by..
Like say this gets as big, as the Moon Appears, to the eye.
That ought to yank everyones chain, a bit..

look at you woo woos falling for it again.
This is obviously a front on view of comet 17P/Homles and its large tail of dust and ice. The core of the comet itself is manytimes smaller than jupiter, but the front on view of the tail and dust cloud is bigger. This is Common with commet's and no big deal. |

"..So I talked to him for about an hour and learned a few new things. I tried to get himn to post here, but he refused, its just not his way.
OK, about a week ago FEMA began major disastor exercises, everything from terror to astroids, out of the blue. There was no schedule or expectations of these exercises. This was a first for him after 10 years of employment.
Since that time his supervisors have been flying in and out of Washington DC, 2 or 3 trips in the past week. Not only that but people from other agencies (the only one he knows for sure is NASA, because he knew the represenitive from some earlier meeting} have been meeting at there office in Houston. Now he does not believe Houston is in any danger.
I asked him the basics like, What, where, when, and how. All he could tell me is that the date on the briefing he recieved said Oct. 30th. And every coastal city was in the scenerio.
The scariest thing he told me last night, is that in these briefing scenerios they recieve they have an EDT or estimated death toll, This one read 15 million!!! This really scares the shit out of me. He also said that they get these scenerios about once a week, but what makes this one different is the "critical red" status of the report. After 10 years never has he recieved one.
He also went to say, what ever this is, is immenant and unavoidable. He is going into spy mode today and is going to try and learn more. I hope he does, I am starting to take this very seriously. This is real. ..." |

What would make a comet explode in this fashion? Actually, a better question is, what would make a comet explode twice in this fashion? This is the second time Comet 17P/Holmes has erupted. The first was in 1892, an outburst that led to the comet's discovery by British astronomer Edwin Holmes.
The answer may be sinkholes. There is growing evidence that some comets and asteroids may have a porous internal structure akin to, say, swiss cheese or a honycomb. Suppose one of the chambers of the honycomb suddenly collapsed, exposing many square kilometers of fresh cometary ice to sunlight for the first time. A flurry of sublimation would ensue with mega-jets of dusty gas emerging from the sinkhole to create a cloud around the comet much as we see now. Twice = two sinkholes, one in 1892 and one in 2007.

Dust and gas: 17PHolmes is now showing both CO gas (green external disk) and dust (yellow internal disk). Imaged with a Schmidt Camera, 30 cm f/2.0 + CCD, total exposure 22 min. In the line profile graph it's evident that the external disk is dominated by green emission of gas. (log values, sun direction toward positive values)

Haven't read this entire thread so someone may already have pointed this out. The comet more than doubled in size from 121 arcseconds on Oct. 25 to 255 arcseconds on Oct. 27. So this thing is definitely getting closer to Earth. |

Let's check the math.
The coma of 17P/Holmes is now larger than Jupiter.
Jupiter has an equatorial radius of 71,492 km.
It's volume could hold 1,321 planet Earths.
Based on expansion over the past 96 hours, the shell of 17P/Holmes seems to be expanding at a rate of approx. 2.4 km per second.
The questions:
* How can "many square kilometers of fresh cometary ice" suddenly sublimate with jet-like velocity into a 70,000+ km coma?
* How can an physical object in motion manifest a spherical expanding shell without the appearance of a tail or trail?
I would love to see a model of how this phenomenon works. Even if Holmes were the size of Earth's moon, and lost an outer shell exposing an entire surface area of "fresh ice" to rapid sublimation, I still can't follow this to the event that we are observing.
Whatever this phenomenon is, it's fascinating. |

I pulled the telescope out last night and looked for a while.
I really had a hard time distinguishing stars as the MOON WAS HUGE AND YELLOW AND VERY FAR TO the left, if you are looking east. NEVER BEFORE has the moon come up over the hill it rose over last night.
But that's another thread I guess.
So I have no naked eye sighting to report. |

Lets take a simpler approach, the comet is going round and round minding it's own orbit so to speak and along comes a small solid meteor going in the other direction, in our solar system we have plenty of both, so you have an impact at extremely high speeds, sufficient to fragment the core of the comet, hence the major explosion, since there is little or no friction in space the particles ejected keep expanding.
If my deduction is correct the size of the comet cloud will keep expanding but will also grow "thinner" or more diffused day by day, we should get more detailed pictures of the comet core day by day. |
