Take a look at this:
Now, this deserves mega applause. Great find, very interesting indeed.
Just to clarify:
1777 + 115 = 1892 + 115 = 2007 Quoting: BadMoonRising 199233
...... and hence why you got mega applause - no one else could find any written 1777 documentation of Holmes, and it sure as hbell looks like you hit the spot.
Cheers. |

I'd have to say that this does take the DOOM-factor down a lot. Apparently this thing will just put up a fantastic show every 115 years, and that's it. Unless something abnormal happens with the circulation of course. |

Fascinating stuff.

This thing is scaring me with it sinrease in size AND brightness...October 31st shit will hit the fan with this 'comet'
Whatever will happen on the 31. it cannot have anything to do with this comet as it's much too far away for debris to hit ....
The first debris ejected from the comet five days ago would have to race with around 2500,000 mph through space to make an impact tomorrow, that's an impossibility IMO.
That would be an impossible speed to you in space? That's only less than 1200km per second, actually it's about 0,35% of lightspeed.
Also seeing how fast it grows in our sky, I wouldn't say that an impact of some level couldn't be possible within 36-48 hours. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 176293
If you assume a meteor impact with the comet then the ejected material will have a velocity around 50 to 70 km/s, IF, and a very BIG IF, the boffins decided to test the nuclear detonation theory of getting rid of NEO's then the speed of the ejected material could be very high. |
