We don't know the cause of the brightening, so it may be wrong to call it an explosion.
While outgassing in a comet's nucleus can act as little jets that can alter its movement, I know of no instance where that caused the change needed to have 17P/Holmes start coming directly toward us. |

Goof balls, comets develop tail when they get inside Jupiter's orbit from waaaaay out there, the further off the greater charge it builds in relationship to the sun. This comet stays inside Jupiter thus doesnt travel radially enough away from the sun to develop enough charge to result in ion discharge aka tail.
Now as for the sudden brightening I'd say It was the Zeta mother ship, trailing this object, getting blown to smithereens by their Reptilian overlords for associating with the reputation annihilating person known as NANCY! AHahahahah!

I'm not getting into any argument here over whether we're going to be hit by a comet or not because I've been involved in countless simular claims that had stuburn "prophets" and of course when nothing happened they vanished.
Basically, if there was any change we would have noticed by now, it happened 2 days ago and has been heavily watched. GLP is the only site whos mades this doom and gloom claim on Holmes.
I'm done, I'm out, continue if you like... you're wasting your time. Live life instead of trying to convince others its over. |

At the risk of injecting a little sanity into the discussion, take a look at the orbit diagram for 17P on the JPL/NASA website. As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words. Play with the angles, orientation, dates all you like, pay special attention to the view where you are on the same plane as the ecliptic, (all the planets orbits are lined up together). You will see the this Comet is well above the plane of Earth's orbit and also moving well away from us. In fact, you will see it's own orbit lies well outside that of Mars'. |

They were shocked over how bright it was... there have been no suggestions of impact AT ALL, not even from lone observers. Its orbit it near jupiter... waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay far away.
And the fact you keep mentioning this "shock" you clearly keep trying to bring in an impact scenario into this thread which has got to be the most unlikley scenario.
And I know for a fact 110% that will disagree despite giving us no reason to suggest why. |
