Hurts for a second, but it is certainly worth it. Just make sure you wash and sanitize the clippers first and have lots of kleenex and water ready because it will bleed a lot. I think it's silly to go to a doctor for something like that. It heals within a day. |

cured! User ID: 944917 United States 04/16/2010 03:36 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I clipped an inflamed tastebud off from the advice in this thread. It still hurts right now a few minutes after doing it but it feels like it is subsiding and there's definitely no more annoying pain from the inflamed tastebud. Cleaned nail clippers w/alcohol, made one cut, which missed and got an un-inflamed tastebud, then made another cut and got the right one. Either way even as I finish this post I can feel the pain from cutting subsiding even more and I'm very happy with the results of this advice. It bled a bit but not profusely. When I was a child I had a tongue injury and learned the value of ice. Putting an ice cube directly on your tongue when it is bleeding will stop the bleeding quickly. It will hurt a bit though because your tongue is a very strong nerve-filled muscle which isn't used to going numb. Oh cool and the pain is pretty much gone now - the only way to feel it is to touch the cut spot directly. |

anony muss User ID: 983044 United States 05/27/2010 01:08 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | yeah u should take it off. but nail clippers are a bad idea because of all of the bacteria thats on them from your nails. most of these idiots here dont realize that sometimes it is best to remove things. what it is is a small infection of the taste bud from either a cut or food or w/e. wash your hands and use two fingernails just like you would popping a zit and apply it to the tastebud and youll get a little white sphere on one of them. suddenly the pains gone |

Once upon a time all household medicine cabinets held gentian violet a deep purple fluid that heals canker sores on tongues overnight. Be careful with it as it can stain your clothes. Use a q-tip for pinpoint application. I occasionally get canker sores on my tongue and I remembered my mother's old remedy. When I went the local drug store, it was behind the pharmacist's counter because it is now considered to be poisonous although from what I can recall it never did anything to anyone in my family except heal our cankers. The truth is the highest religion. |

I tried swishing salt water, applying yogurt, and applying ice. None of it worked. Using numbing gel only relieved the pain for a few minutes. I numbed it and then pulled it out with tweezers. It is still a little sore but way better than it was. |
