It is extremely similar to Tempel directly after "Deep Impact".
Why would they want to do this? Is Perseus being honored here for some reason? Is this a clue of some sort?
What is the significance of the myth of Perseus? He saved Andromeda and cut off Medusa's head.
Just a thought. |

"A gaseous cloud is racing away from the comet's core almost doubling in size from night to night. This sequence of images was captured by Wah! of Hong Kong using a Meade 8-inch LX200 on Oct 25th and 26th (details).
What is happening to this comet?"
Tempel did this exact same thing. Tremendous brightening and a cloud of particles that raced away from the core. |

considering that 17/P Holmes was discovered in the 1860's during just one of it's brightening times, i would have to say that no, no deep impact was done on it. it has brightened and faded many times through the years.
it may however get hit by object "out there"? |

I wonder why no one seems to catch on to your theory?
And yes Tempel showed a very similar development with brightening up and developing a gas and dust cloud, it was just not affecting the whole comet then but only the area where it was hit by NASA's probe.

In response to your original question.I think it very probable .Theres a lot of nasty things out there heading our way and if they told us about each and every one we would all be either panicking like crazy or become apathetic and not pay attention when the big pink one comes too close and too quickly into our space to do anything about it.

No because deep impact caused a very minor burst of 1 or 2 magnitudes. This is a burst of 15.5 magnitudes. This is not the first time a comet has outburst without a "deep impact". |

You act like outbursts of comets are some rare phenomena. You must have missed this on spaceweather.com:
"What would make a comet explode in this fashion? Actually, a better question is, what would make a comet explode twice in this fashion? This is the second time Comet 17P/Holmes has erupted. The first was in 1892, an outburst that led to the comet's discovery by British astronomer Edwin Holmes."
Are you trying to imply that they did a "deep impact" in 1892 as well??? This isn't the first time this comet has outburst. |

it would have taken months to get to the comet. remember it took 6 months for the mars rovers to make it to mars. this is much further away. |
