There's an area near to where I used to live that had me convinced since I was a kid that there was something strange underground there. I wouldn't be surprised if you're right.

It is in Crab Orchard, WV. My proof is:

Military and government vehicles that "disappear" in a place called Pemberton. Which is on the other side of the mountain. There are railroad tracks that branch off and go into a building that is labeled "Lilly Explosives". The company has been closed for decades, but the last time I checked the tracks were still shiny going into the building. Granted this was several years ago. But there is no valid reason for that.

Beckley, the larger city on the other side of the interstate has a population of a little over 18,000. But it has many times more stores than here in Monroe which has a population of over 50,000. There is no place for the people to work that shop in those stores. There should not be any money to buy anything. Yet the city keeps growing while the population keeps shrinking.

They recently built a federal prison in the area and Sen Byrd keeps sending more money to the area. There is nothing to spend it on. The "base" located with 5 minute access to 2 interstates and they are currently building a major highway from Crab Orchard to nowhere called the "King Coal Expressway".

I have never been inside the base, but I have been told to leave the woods in the area by men with military guns. These were not hunters. It was not hunting season and there were no marijuana gardens in the area. I would have known if there were.

My gang and I used to party on top of this "abandoned strip mine". One night I was spotlighting deer. It was 12 midnight when I lit my cigarette. It was 5 am when I put that same cigarette out. I have no idea what happened during those 5 hours, but it's impossible to smoke one cigarette for 5 hours.

Probably more of these around than most people are aware of.

Heard many rumors in my area as well,and lots of strange things go on around that even myself have seen.
things flying around late at night without making any sounds
and flashes of lights that have no origin,several folks
talking about something they see out of the corner of the eyes as a streak that moves really fast.

I used to live near there. I spent hundreds of hours on top of that mountain. I had a guy with me when I lost that 5 hours. He was a heavy drinker. Could drink a case of beer in a couple hours and not be drunk. He had a fresh six pack, opened his first beer when I lit my smoke and his beer was still cold and it was still the first beer he'd opened 5 hours later. It was flat though.

Once when we (about a dozen of my friends and I) were in the middle of the field that is on top of the mountain drinking/partying we saw three dark blue government type sedans (Crown Vics) with 4 people each in them drive by. Now, if you've ever been there you'd know that cars DO NOT drive on this road. It's a four wheeling road. But they drove by and stared at us hard. We were all kinda freaked about it. They wasn't anywhere they could have come from. The bridge that they'd have to have crossed was not something a car would be able to cross. I still don't know how they got there and like I said, I've spent hundreds of hours on that mountain.

After the guys with guns incident we didn't look around much anymore.

You can't go up there now. When I lived up there I pulled the gate down about dozen times with my 4x4. Even cut one up with an acetylene torch. (I don't believe in gating four wheeling roads. Especially if the land is owned by coal companies or timber companies) So they put the gate right on the paved road and you can't get around it with a vehicle or have enough room to pull it down with a truck anymore.
