man i work at target, i had to get up at 6 to go to work, and it was just embarrassing. Being a cart attendant i dont think i did anything that day, there were no carts at all they were all used. I look at the people standing in line for their carts, and the people inside walking around like ants...is this what we have become
spending out life waiting and buying the new flat screen tv, or the new video game. Its pathetic

Although I’ve never personally worked in retail merchandising, I’ve had some very good friends who did.
My friends were with Federated Department Stores (FDS) which, as I remember, included the RICH’S / MACY’S / LAZARUS / GOLDSMITH’S chains in North America.
I’ve heard the Horror Stories, . . . from the point of view of the Employees / Sales Personnel who worked at those large, multi-floored department stores.
When the doors are first unlocked on the morning of a big sale, . . . the huge crowds STAMPEDE towards the escalators, . . . which carry them to the upper floors.
Sales Associates / Employees are so greatly out-numbered, . . . that many feel overwhelmed, . . . especially on the ground floor when the doors are first unlocked and the customer STAMPEDE begins :!:
Customers have sometimes been known to FIGHT (literally) over who is the first to get their hands on certain merchandise which is on sale but available in limited quantities.
Half jokingly, I once asked a friend, who was a Federated Department Store (Macy’s) Sales Associate :
:icon?mark: “If the customers RIOT, . . . do you have a contingency plan” :icon?mark:
The answer was :
:righticon: “If possible, I’d lock myself in the Employee’s Lounge / Bathrooms, . . . or in the Stock Rooms. Otherwise, I’d hide behind the counters and pray.” :!:
