come to think of it...under bridges was always pretty good for hunkering down too. lay your plastic down...then layer the papers (pick up from the train stations or in back of publishing houses)...cover with the plastic (with the paper and you in the middle). sort of like a human hot dog. it works and keeps the rain/sleet/snow/wind out.

train stations/bus stations are all pretty good for catching a nap, maybe even a wash up.

a lot of little towns will allow you to stay in their jail for a night if it's stormy...and the donuts are pretty good.

anyway, a bridge usually has others under too that will help you. be careful as they're prepared. ummmm...carry a knife you can reach if needed in a hurry. has to be under 9 inches in most states though to keep it legal.
