It says "IN".

John did not write his Apocalypse in English; he wrote it in Greek.
The translation from Greek to English is imperfect when it comes to certain verb usage; the Mark could very well be in or on the hand and forehead.
However, does it really matter? Just avoid both as if your soul depended on it.
Your right hand (actions) or your forehead (thoughts)...

The Bible could not be more clear; the Mark is a real physical thing on (or in) your right hand, or on (or in) your forehead.
People highly miss understand the Mark of the Beast.
Read the Bible more closely.
Its not a chip or such dealing with economic seclear life.
The Mark of the Beast is spoken of as religious symbol, a symbol of religious devotion to the Beast or his/her philosophies.
The persons that will wear it are religiously devoted to the Beast.

Have you seen the VISA commercial where everyone is happy and everything is operating in perfect harmony while each person is paying with the "easy and convenient" VISA card, but when someone pays with cash it stops the whole perfect system...
or the commercial where the guy goes through the supermarket putting things in all his pockets, then just walks out through an automatic scanner without stopping (he is stopped by a security guard that gives him his receipt).
We are being manipulated and programmed to accept a cashless and controlled monetary system. The VISA cards will get smaller and easier to use, then they will incorporate chips that hold our identification, then eventually the "new" thing will be to get an implanted chip to "make our lives so much easier".
It is coming, and it is coming fast. In a few years all the rage will be the cool new ATM implants. They will be the IPods for 2010.
