Christianity tried to give it a human face - and was co-opted by the Roman empire, Islam came along as a sort of anti-christianity. I don't know if it's accidental or intentional, but we can take a third road, which is to be true to our views of reality. For example, one can be against both abortion and capital punishment. One can be for a strong military while being against unjust wars. Life isn't an either/or proposition. We have to break out of that paradigm. Let the truth be your religion. |
