You need to find out the cause of your temperature increase. You may not like doctors but sometimes you have to rely on them if you cannot help yourself. If at first you don't succeed, perhaps failure is more your style. |

Aspirin didn't work. Tylenol 800 mg. Take 2 every 6 hours. Try to eat. The most important thing is fluids. Get ready to go to nearest Emergency Room if the fever won't break. This is some bad stuff.I almost didn't make it. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 1616 United States 12/04/2007 06:48 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | As a former army medic, I almost got busted for evacuating someone whose fever was under 103 ... but I could see it going up about a degree every two minutes as I watched the thermometer. He had malaria. Generally, don't go to the hospital unless your temp is at least 104 ... otherwise, follow the advise of people above ... take a cold shower or ice bath, drink cold liquids, take aspirin. |

If nature wants you to die..dont let a doctor get in the way of whats a natural part of life.. Peace... |

Mark In NYC User ID: 325789 United States 12/04/2007 07:12 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Did you read the blurb about the army medic evac'd a guy @ 103 temp and then proved right because the patient had malaria? That is extreme, but it happens! With out the knowledge of what's going on, we're fucked in trying to treat you. BTW at over 104 you won't be able to tell us what caused this or what the onset looked like. You'll be delerious and uncommunicative. So, asshole, PLEASE DO NOT WAIT THAT LONG! That having been said - how old are you? What is your height, weight? Are you M or F? History of other illnesses recent or not? How long has this been going on? Any other symptoms? Any recent injuries? Cuts, abrasions, wounds that drew blood? GENERALLY speaking a temp of 102 is just very uncomfortable. At 103 you're in trouble, and at 104 or 105 you're in real danger and need medical intervention ASAP. Have you been exposed to anyone who was sick (like this particularly) lately? Is there pain localized to any one specific area on your body? TALK TO US! I won't give medical advice but I will tell you what to tell an ER guy to look for and maybe speed up his making a correct DX. Life really is a banquet - and truly - most poor sucker are starving! Enjoy the ride baby. |

At 103 he may not know the difference between hospital or hospice. He's sick. Remember? Or maybe his first language is not english and he's doing the best he can but his O2 sats are lower than normal and he's getting somewhat 'stupid' because of a lack of oxygen to his brain cells! There is a time when things are more important than spelling and grammar for God's sake! You need hospice, definitely. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 293212Hospice? Don't you think that is a bit extreme for a fever? Life really is a banquet - and truly - most poor sucker are starving! Enjoy the ride baby. |

You tend to come into the ER on a stretcher and you're too ill to even tell us what is hurting you and/or where, much less what happened that may have caused this! The last few days of your life hold the key, most likely, to the cause and diagnosis. But you've got to be able to communicate with us to help find out what is going on so we can begin the RIGHT treatment.
