Dispute over Iran’s nuclear program throws Israel-US relations into grave crisis
Senior Israel security and intelligence officials report: Washington is refusing to heed the intelligence Israel has gathered on Iran’s covert military nuclear program which refutes its latest estimate, denies Israel access to authentic US intelligence and has embarked on steps detrimental to Israel in relation to Iran, Saudi Arabia, Syria and Lebanon, without informing its government.

Defense minister Ehud Barak challenged the US intelligence estimate on Iran Tuesday, Dec. 4. He said that Iran may have stopped its military program in 2003, but has since apparently restarted it.

Prime minister Ehud Olmert, left in the dark by Israel’s senior ally, is at a loss to arrest the serious deterioration in their relations. At pains to conceal the gaping rift with Washington, the prime minister’s office released word of George W, Bush’s coming visit to Jerusalem, his first as president. However, DEBKAfile’s sources disclose Israel will be only one stop Jan. 9 along an extensive Middle East tour, which will take Bush to Egypt, Morocco, Saudi Arabia and Ramallah, where he intends to make a big deal of proclaiming his support for forthcoming Palestinian statehood.

He will also visit Beirut, by which time Gen. Michel Suleiman will be installed as president. Bush will hail his administration’s diplomatic success in securing Saudi, Iranian and Syrian approval for the election of a pro-Syrian Hizballah supporter as Lebanese president.

Talking to the media Tuesday, the US president ducked the question of whether the new US Intelligence Estimate had changed Washington’s Iran policy. Next month, our sources report, he will have ample opportunity to demonstrate his abrupt, tidal policy reversals when he tours Middle East capitals.

DEBKAfile’s Jerusalem sources report Olmert, loath to admit the loss of Israel’s most powerful friend, is under mounting pressure by leading political, intelligence and military officials to stand up and articulate an independent Israeli stance in the light of the Bush administration’s actions, especially in response to the true facts of Iran’s nuclear activities. The rift with Washington is not just political, they say, but touches on critical security issues that affect Israel’s very survival.

One immediate proposal is for the establishment of a national emergency government.

Bush plans first visit to Israel in January

President Bush will visit the Mideast in early January as he presses the Israelis and Palestinians to resume long-stalled peace talks and forge an elusive agreement for an independent Palestinian state.

The White House would not disclose details of Bush’s itinerary, but an Israeli television station said he will go to Israel for the first time in his presidency.

“The president believes now is an appropriate time to visit the region,” said White House press secretary Dana Perino.

Last week, the Bush administration hosted a high-profile Mideast conference in Annapolis, Md., where Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas told international backers and skeptical Arab neighbors that they were ready to resume talks.

Bush has held Mideast peacemaking at arms’ length for most of his nearly seven years in office but argues that conditions in Israel and the Palestinian territories now are right for a more energetic role. He said Israeli and Palestinian leaders are ready to make peace, there is a wider and unifying fight against extremism fed by the Palestinian conflict, and the world understands the urgency of acting now.

Israel’s Channel 2 TV reported Tuesday that Bush would focus on Israel-Palestinian peace talks on his visit but also would discuss Iran’s nuclear program. Other Israeli media outlets reported the Bush visit would take place Jan. 9.

Fundamental differences over core issues have led to the collapse of previous peace efforts. Those issues include the borders of a Palestinian state, the status of Jerusalem and the rights of Palestinian refugees and their descendants.

Israel announced plans Tuesday to build more than 300 new homes in a disputed East Jerusalem neighborhood, drawing quick Palestinian condemnation that the move will undermine the newly revived peace talks.

The new housing would expand Har Homa, a Jewish neighborhood in an area that Palestinians claim as the capital of a future state. Palestinian officials appealed to the U.S. to block the project, but Israel says a pledge to halt settlement activity does not apply anywhere in the holy city.

Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat sent an urgent message to Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, asking her to block the project. “This is undermining Annapolis,” he said.

Israel’s announcement about the new homes comes amid rising Israeli frustration over almost daily rocket attacks on Israel by Islamic militants in Gaza. Israel has pledged to advance its campaign against Gaza militants, saying that by Tuesday night, 21 rockets and mortars had been fired on Israel, bringing the 12-month total to more than 2,000.

Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak said it is time to “kill those who carry out attacks” against Israelis, but he said he was holding off on a large-scale invasion of the Gaza Strip for now.

Barak told Army Radio that Israeli troops killed 27 Gaza militants in the past 10 days and would continue to chase down those operating under Hamas rule. Early Tuesday, an Israeli airstrike on a Hamas police post in central Gaza killed three militants.

Under a timetable reached at the Annapolis conference, negotiating teams were to hold their first session in the region on Dec. 12, and Olmert and Abbas plan to continue one-onone discussions they began earlier this year.

Many of the same nations and organizations attending the meeting in Annapolis were scheduled to gather Dec. 17 in Paris to raise money for the cash-strapped Palestinians.

That's your first mistake, thinking England / London had nothing to do with the bombing. The queen gave sanctuary / free pass to the Nazi's...

Israel backed by army of cyber-soldiers

Israel’s Government has thrown its weight behind efforts by supporters to counter what it believes to be negative bias and a tide of pro-Arab propaganda. The Foreign Ministry has ordered trainee diplomats to track websites and chatrooms so that networks of US and European groups with hundreds of thousands of Jewish activists can place supportive messages.

In the past week nearly 5,000 members of the World Union of Jewish Students (WUJS) have downloaded special “megaphone” software that alerts them to anti-Israeli chatrooms or internet polls to enable them to post contrary viewpoints. A student team in Jerusalem combs the web in a host of different languages to flag the sites so that those who have signed up can influence an opinion survey or the course of a debate.

Turning the Public Into A Megaphone

Influencing the press is apparently no longer enough. The Israeli government, through its Consul General in New York, in what may be an illegal attempt by a foreign government to manipulate domestic public opinion, is now reaching out directly to the American public. It is an attempt to get Israel’s supporters to become their “megaphone’ in what’s described as “a new battleground:” the Internet.

Here’s a direct solicitation from the Consulate received on July 24:

“Dear friend,

During the last couple of weeks we have received many phone calls and emails from people who are asking what can be done to support Israel during the current situation.

Many of us recognize the importance of the Internet as the new battleground for explaining Israel' position. With that in mind, an Israeli software company have recently developed a free, safe and useful tool - the Internet Megaphone.

Please go to www.giyus.org, download the Megaphone, and you will receive daily updates with instant links to important internet polls, articles that require a talk back, etc.”

I believe several Leaders in history used 'mental defects' as the conduit for detention and forced treatment.

Ridicule being the second tactic.

The draw for me is statement near the bottom of this site.

"We do not discriminate against the mentally ill!"

Others do discriminate,it would seem when not in agreement with a particular perspective.

This place is the closest space to freedom i've found in a long while.

This is just proof that Israel has been feeding bullshit 'intelligence' for years!!!!! I remember some Israeli general screaming Iran is weeks away from the bomb last freakin january! American intelligence agancies were shit on by Cheney/Bush/neocons in the Iraq fiasco when these psychopathic leaders cherrypicked or even created false data to support their claims of WMDs in Iraq. Although honestly Cheney was partially correct because he and Rumsfeld had receipts for selling these to Saddam during the Iran/Iraq war.
Bush looked confused and like a deer caught in headlights at his newsconference about the NIE yet he still squirms and tries to justify his (Zionist handlers) position. Now the Mossad has to plant WMDs in Iran or initiate a false flag attack blamed on Iran in order to further their agenda and put the cost on the backs of Americans. Now Cheney is going to have to be repeatedly dragged out of his hospital bed (he is nearly dead due to his heart or lack thereof) in order to scare the shit out of people just like Iraq.
And meanwhile on the homefront Goldman Sachs has been caught pushing these subprime mortgages while at the same time selling them short and our fucking 'leaders' think this is fine. Sounds like a RICO prosecution and lawsuit if there ever was one, especially with them 'posting losses' yet still giving billions in bonuses.
