Message Subject Harvard Professor Predicts Civil War After 2008 Election

The civil war was fought for economic reasons, and dressed up to be about race. The rural south thought the industrial north was passing laws (tarriff related) to hurt them. Slavery was a good excuse to go to war after the south left the union, but that was just like us saying we're fighting for democracy today.

The next civil war will not be divided down Republican/Democrat party lines. 25 to 50% of the people don't even BOTHER voting. Most people don't like either party, but just accept the better of two bad choices. You think people are going to die for the difference between Mitt Romney and Hillary Clinton? Please.

Plus, who the hell is going to fight a civil war over who gets into office when the candidates are so alike, and most citizens lead a fairly good lifestyle?

I think the professor is just looking for some attention.

I agree, the civil war that Titor referred to was the people versus the government.

This is more likely.
