I listened to Tori a lot in college. Yes, many of her songs have a dark element, but she is making art from her life. Sometimes she's odd on the vocals, but her piano skills are top-notch (oh, and her brother is her drummer).
Tori talks about two things a lot in her songs: relgion and sex (not always in the same song!) Tori's real name is Myrna, and she was raised by a father who is a preacher. I think her songs are a way of getting out religious angst. Many people who are religious have some conflicting emotions. Also, she was raped as a young woman (I think when she was in L.A. working with Y Kant Tori Read, her first band)--I think it was one of her "fans."
At any rate, she's an original. Many of her songs explore the mythology of the world. And she does have a good voice--her album Scarlett's Walk should prove that.
None of you "Pagans" can even agree on what "Paganism" really is, and you take pieces of occult/satanic rituals and perform them in the woods and pretend like you are worshiping the earth or some other weird ass thing...
All of this just to cling to some stupid idea that you are "cool", or "rebellious", when really you have no idea what you are doing accept you are too weak to do what you know you need to do to be good people.
So you throw yourself at some ill conceived notion of earth worship so that you can ignore the harder things that you know you have to eventually do to be pleasing to the lord.
It's just more vanity, arrogance, and excuses...excuses to do YOUR OWN WILL as opposed to THE RIGHT THING.
Again, just my opinion, and I welcome you to go even deeper into Paganism, anything that takes you away from polluting good people with your occultism garbage is welcomed by me.
Go distract yourself more...
You know how you can tell that you are wrong, and Tori Amos is wrong, because you define yourself on how much you aren't like the believers...
You wouldn't need that crutch if we weren't right in the first place, and you know it.
Again, just so everyone knows, this is JUST MY OPINION...I don't speak for anyone but myself.
Well I don't think one has to do with the other. I was just actually wondering what about it was bad? If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything.

Saying something "is wrong" is not an opinion. It's a blatant statement. I am always for the Greater Good. In my opinion, going to church is a crutch. But whatever works for them. If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything.

Saying something is wrong is not an opinion?
Are you daft?
Of course it is an opinion...
I told you, I think it is wrong, and one of the reasons why I think it's wrong is that no two "Pagans" can even agree on what "Paganism" is...
If I asked three people that described themselves as "Arithmeticians" what 1+1 equaled and they all gave me different numbers, I would say that they were WRONG, and I would say that there is no real answer to be found here...
I would say that this group of people are kidding themselves.
And you are.
And you know it.
The worst thing is that although most "Pagans" adopt a certain level of occultism, most of you rediculous kiddies can't even work it to make you powerful!
You are like the worlds biggest epic fails ever!
If you are going to sell your own soul down the river why do it for such a paltry sum!
At least accept occultism/Satanism FULLY, and get the benefits that magic has to offer in this world before you lose your soul...
Truth is you're just dabblers, miscreants, neither here no there...you know you can't handle the sacrifice involved to be good people, so you reject goodness, but you're not evil enough to REALLY fall into the occult and the darkside...
So you sit in the middle and play poser witchcraft and earth worship...
I bet Tori has a great sense of humor that's slightly too subtle/morbid for most of you nonfutants to comprehend.
Or maybe she's just possessed, and working for evil.
Oh, and you're a tool fan?
They love you too, just listen to their lyrics...
TOOL SONG LYRICS FROM "HOOKER WITH A PENIS"
All you know about me is what I've sold you,
Dumb fuck.
I sold out long before you ever heard my name.
I sold my soul to make a record,
Dip shit,
And you bought one.
All you read and
Wear or see and
Hear on TV
Is a product
Begging for your
Fatass dirty
Dollar
Shut up and
Buy, buy, buy, my new record
Buy, buy, buy, send more money
Fuck you, buddy.
Fuck you, buddy.
Fuck you, buddy.
Fuck you, buddy.
Tool, loves you too, you dumb shit...lol
Wake the fuck up and realize that these bands are leading you to evil and THEY ARE TELLING YOU AS MUCH!!!
Fuck, people are so dumb!
Quoting: Anonymous Coward 331409
I don't take music literally, and I'm thoroughly in touch with my own subconscious. I've never bought a tool album...
It's thoughtful art, not some device of satan, mr. delusional. A lot of these real bands (not the corporate sellout whores[btw that's the origin of that song you quoted, fans were calling them sellouts, it's humor, maynard humor])lash out at most of their fanbase because they are nothing more than shallow swimming mouth breathing idiots, stuck to the wall.
No band or person leads me anywhere. I'm one of the few, I guess, who can take it for what it is. You think they're evil because your head is fucked, burn your bible and try thinking with that brilliant tool god gave you.

Fuck sake, go blast your kenny g, play your world of warcraft, watch your g4 tv, and suck god's dick. You're personally legislating taste under the guise of biblical doctrine. You can't rightfully claim evil from good to a turd in a toilet.
You're self-righteous and probably severely sexually frustrated. Jam some Zep and buy a hooker, you'll be all better.

These xtians really are getting out of hand...a bit silly, no?
I am not some senseless pagan, nor do I use amalgamations of paganism and wicca. I have nothing against wicca, but I am old school Asatru. So, the individual who made the comment about what brand of paganism I am might make the choice to do some reading.
These fools will get what they deserve, just give it time.

I have nightmares about christian music, the way the crowd starts crying and raising their hands in those commercials scares the bejesus out of me. Like, it makes me not want to go to heaven if that's the only music they listen to. I awake thinking of ways I can prevent myself from going to heaven. My cross to bear....sigh.
Well, my Heaven isn't at all like that.. I will be at my cottage by the lake with my Bonnie Raitt music... If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything.

And to think I'm such the rugged manly man, but when it comes to gardening I've become the ultimate flowerhomo, lol. My niece got me into it, now my backyard...the landscaping is complete shite, I have no aesthetic vision for these things yet, but it sure is colorful out there with hundreds of different kinds of flowers growing everywhere.
It makes her happy and I just dig sitting out there staring at the various natural colors, so vivid. But yeah, heaven's roads are paved with loads of flowers, for sure.

Apparently, the name "Los Angeles" is an abbreviated version of "El Pueblo de Nuestra Señora la Reina de los Ángeles de Porciúncula", roughly translated as:
