Do people subconsciously know when they're going to die?
I was listening to last night's C2C show and some woman called in while Joseph Jacobs (psychic guy) was on and she asked him "Do you think that people sense or know when they are going to die?" The way I understood the question was, do people - if they are going to die soon - have a sense of it?

JJ said he didn't think so. He said there are some days that are so bad that he wishes he would die, but overall, no, people don't have a sense of that.

I thought the question was interesting because I often think that I'm going to die soon-ish. I don't have any life-threatening illnesses (that I know of), I believe I am very healthy, but sometimes I just think that I am going to die early or soon or unexpectedly (as opposed to people who die of lingering illnesses).

So, what do you guys think? Do you think that people know or have an idea that they're going to die soon before they die? I think I'm speaking more of people who die suddenly -like car crashes....

I've never had any sense of that, at all.

I'm 53 years old and I fully intend to have a "George Burns" finish. I will die, painlessly, in my sleep, when I am 100 years old.

Do people subconsciously know when they're going to die?

Yes. Especially the night before.

Sometimes you can change your fate, though.

To answer your question:

I believe in reincarnation and the notion that you preview your life before you are born. According to what I've read on the subject, some souls do indeed preview when and where they will die in a particular lifetime before living it, so technically, on some subconscious level they may know before it happens. However, it's also been said that advanced souls usually only "preview" the first 20-years of their life or so, and have no idea when it will end until they're dead.

Interesting stuff.

Your subconscious keeps the storage of future time lines.

If you create patterns and tools for it, sometimes you can guide your future... change directions, of some sort..

Re: Do people subconsciously know when they're going to die?
Yes I think so. When I lived in Michigan I read about a preacher who was in the hospital from being injured from ice falling off of his roof. He was in pretty bad shape and after being in the hospital for a week he told his family and nurse in the room that he could see a door and he was going to walk through it. He then died.

"When you know that your time is close at hand
Maybe then you'll begin to understand
Life down there is just a strange illusion"

Ever thought the same could be said in reverse?

The more the veil is lifted the closer to death (materially) we become?

Re: Do people subconsciously know when they're going to die?
If you are close to death, yes. When I was nine i was very sick with what my mom thought was the flu. She came home late from work that night and came in my room and I told her I was going to die that night. She freaked and took me to the hospital whre they discovered I had spinal meningitas and the doc told her I would have been dead by morning as I was running a 106 temperature. Went into a coma and they gave me the last rites . I was watching the whole thing from the ceiling where I floated for a couple of days untill I awoke back in my body and got well. Am rarely sick now as an adult.

Re: Do people subconsciously know when they're going to die?
My father married a younger woman when he was 42, he told her before they got married that she needed to realize that he would die at 70 years old, he knew it, and she needed to think hard about whether she wanted to be a somewhat young widow. She thought he was just being weird and told him she loved him and didn't care. Years went by, he got cancer and died at age 70 leaving her a somewhat young widow.

A friend's sister always said she would not live past 30, that she would die in a car crash, and sure enough at 29 she died in a car crash.

I don't understand these things but they happen.

Somehow i feel like I will not live into old age.

5a Bingo.

Most NDE'rs say we set our incarnations up so that we have the best chances of learning the lessons we feel we need to learn for spiritual growth.

Part of that set up, is picking your time for going back once your lessons are learned. Mind you, things and circumstances can change.

Re: Do people subconsciously know when they're going to die?
I have had experience with 2 people in my life who I am pretty sure knew.My father passed away March 1991.He was 44.The week before he died he bought a lottery ticket which he never did as he thought gambling was wrong and he considered lottery gambling. He was telling me the numbers and 1 of them was 24 and I asked him why 24 and he said because he and my mom had been married 24 years. My mom and dad's 25th anniversary would have been May 28,1991.I told him well why did you not pick 25 because in 2 months it will be 25 years and he looked at me and said but right now it is 24 and things happen. He died the next week of a heart attack and had no heart problems. My grandmother had brain cancer and the day before she died she told my cousin to help her lay out her clothes because she told my cousin she needed them for her funeral so that noone would have to worry about that when she died.

Re: Do people subconsciously know when they're going to die?
I have known that I was going to die at age 50 since I was 6 years old. I have had vivid dreams of certain events that would happen during my life and they did not make sense, but when the event happened, I would remember the dreams that showed me that they will come to pass. I have seen everything that will happen up to age 50, then I don't see anything happening after that point. I just see darkness.

Re: Do people subconsciously know when they're going to die?
I've been thinking about this a lot. My dad was in a car accident a year and a half ago. The night before it, he broke down to me crying that he was afraid to die. What was weird about this, is he had never done this before, and he was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect that could have easily taken him any time before this. He knew. I also have seen a lot of artists eerily predict their deaths(Tupac, John Lennon, Jeff Buckley, ect). I feel that a lot of my idols(such as Martin Luther King)knew that theirs was coming. I have been getting some signs lately and a small fear that I will die soon and be unable to have children and get married. I like to consider myself a reasonable person, but I also consider myself a spiritual person that relies heavily on intuition. I'm really not sure what to expect, but I pray that I will be able to have children first. In all honesty this topic probably shouldn't consume too much of my mind.

Re: Do people subconsciously know when they're going to die?
Before my 5 month old daughter passed away I found it strange that I, myself felt like I was going to die soon, or something was going to happen. BUT I Never thought it was going to happen to my daughter. With my oldest daughter (age 3) I was able to imagine what she is going to look like in her wedding dress, but my 5 month year old, I could not.

I am not sure if the signs where these but if we do sense things, WE WOULD NEVER RECOGNIZE IT UNTIL IT HAPPENS.. then people can sit back and say OHHHHHH THAT WAS A SIGN.

I always wonder how I am going to die. I wonder what happens after you die. I wonder what my daughter sees and everyone else tangel3angel3hat dies.

Re: Do people subconsciously know when they're going to die?
I'm a little freaked out. my mother who is 83 years old and not in the best of health, but is very strong willed, stated last night that she would not live to see one of my nieces get married so she was sending her wedding gift to her now. My niece is not even dating anyone. Then she said she was thinking of giving my children, who are not contemplating marriage their wedding gifts.....because she hopes that she doesn't live much longer but there is nothing that she can do but wait. By gifting future wedding gifts, does this mean that she knows something we don't know.
