Anonymous Coward User ID: 339020 United States 12/26/2007 11:33 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Oh shit...here it goes. We see if we get sensible annotation or simply more personal attacks. Having multiple run-ins with this ilk, in my short time here at GLP, and seeing the moves for which you slaughtered him upon the field, invokes a desire to find him on the plains of Gobi, on my Percheron, Celandropcampf, and then sunder him into the wiles of the slaughtered and vanquished. He then can be a chamber maid for the village pauper. Good game. Salute! RAMS Robert A.M. D. Bunker ™ (OP) User ID: 283716 United States 12/26/2007 12:21 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | [White "D. Bunker"] [Black "IDW"] 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 d6 I initially seek an open tactical game. His choice to defend the e5 pawn is book. I respond challenging the center. 3. d4 c5?? c5 was a blunder. He leaves the e5 pawn with one defender while I attack this square twice. It does not take great skill to see this simple reality. At issue will opening the Queens file. As I will be able to force him to lose his ability to castle, this provides me a pawn and the advantage of his King being stuck in the middle of the board. 4. dxe5 dxe5 5. Qxd8+ Kxd8 6. Nxe5 I have achieved the objective resulting from the dubious move c5. I have a pawn and he has lost the ability to castle. I also have a fork at F7 via my Knight if he fails to defend against it. ... Nh6?? He sees the issue, but fails to protect f7 nor move his King out of the fork. This is a simple combination also. One of the first rules a child is taught is not to deploy knights on the rim of the board. Their effectiveness here is minimal. Knights should be played in the center. In addition, he once again fails to see several things. A Bishop is typically considered worth a bit more than a knight; however, by placing the knight on h6, I can exchange for the bishop, utilize the fork, gain more material advantage and double two rook file pawns. 7. Bxh6 gxh6 8. Nxf7+ Ke8 9. Nxh8 At this point I have attained the following advantages: a) Material advantage is 3-6 depending on whether he can corner the knight. b) His King is caught in the middle c) His King side is compromised d) doubled pawns on the rook file. For me this is a clear winning advantage. It was advisable to resign at this point as his game is hopeless already. ... Bg7 This move is best as it threatens to capture b2 and the Rook or secure the knight. I choose to allow the knight and retain a material advantage of 3 along with other positional considerations worth about another pawn. 10. c3 Bxh8 11. Bc4 Here I simply deploy the Bishop and prepare to castle. Possibly better would have been f4 or Nd2 pressing the attack. I play more conservatively and usually consolidate the position and my advantage. ... a6 He likely plans to attack the Bishop with b4 and hope that I will drop back to b3 thus allowing him to trap the bishop. I can resolve this with a3 or a4. I think a4 better as it creates other possibilities if he pursues this line. 12. a4 Nc6 13. Nd2 Simply deploying pieces. They are of little use on the back line. ... b5? Another blunder. It is aggressive, but fails to see the ramifications and why I chose a4 over a3. 14. axb5 I gain another pawn. If he chooses to retake, I shall take the other Rook on a8. Seeing this he must retreat the very Knight that was just deployed. ... Nb8 And back it goes. 15. O-O Probably best was Bd5. I rejected bxa6 as a6 is defended three times and I will only maintain an attack count of two. Also my King remains in the center. Being conservative, I choose to castle and connect the rooks. I have many advantages and a clearly won position. ... a5 This was a reasonable move, but I perceive my material advantage is greater than a rook (ie. +5.0) Coupled with other smaller advantages, it may approach a Queen. 16. Bd5 This creates a Bishop and passed pawn fortress. I have two passed pawns. It is true they remain below the fourth rank, but I should have no problem pushing them to promotion in the long run. The Rook attack is static and he should be able to defend. ... Ra7 17. b6 Rg7 I further harass the rook and he moves Rg7. I see the pin on my King and the potential of Bh3 compromising my f1 Rook. This is easily defended. My instinct told me that I could press the attack with Rxa5. While debating the next move, IDW chose to resign the game after I stated I would likely move g3. IDW is an idiot and I highly doubt anybody will argue with you on this point. Quoting: ThanatosIt would be fine with me to let it go. It was a non event for me. My ire is directed at false accusations by an ass who could not handle losing a chess game to a woman. :savetata: Favorite Quote - "I just fucking love outer space, it has all those planets and stars and shit." - Mister Obvious 2009 |
Tenuki User ID: 345757 United Kingdom 12/26/2007 07:03 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I did not remove the original post as I was not here when IDW began his accusing that I had cheated and used a chess computer. He turned the original post into a troll fest and the post was removed by other moderators. Quoting: D. Bunker ™As he continues to accuse me of cheating and will not let it go. There are other players of high caliber here who can attest to the obvious moves I made and the horrible ones you made. I defy you to prove anything with your piss poor play. A rank amateur could beat you easily in average club play. You are an insufferable ass. My sound advice to avert such accusations in the future,is learn to play Go,no programme is up to scratch yet. |

I 'watched' your opponent hesitate, choke then resign and unravel a short while later. Astral instant replay Perhaps IDW forgot to eat his... My perception of You was that you were patient, relaxed and accommodating and even afforded IDW a graceful exit,to no avail. My guess is that IDW is either very young or immature and impulsive. DanfromtheHills User ID: 671176 United States 09/09/2009 04:11 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | uscf 2054 here. played lots of chess from 82 to 94, when I retired from tournament play. dbunk's notes are spot on. I don't think a computer was involved, black's bad moves were easy to spot and capitalize on. For the record the opening is called Philidor's defense. Although popular in his day, it is seldom if ever used by modern masters. From Wiki: François-André Danican Philidor (September 7, 1726 - August 31, 1795) was a French chess player and composer. He was regarded as the best chess player of his age (see any of the References), although the title of World Chess Champion was not yet in existence. Philidor's book Analyse du jeu des Échecs was considered a standard chess manual for at least a century. He was commonly referred to as André Danican Philidor during his lifetime.
