Or liquefy it and burn it? Huge energy inputs, coal powered I suppose. Quoting: now hereHow is everyone overlooking the methods of extracting the stuff out of the ground???????!!! www.ilovemountains.org THIS (mountaintop removal) is the supposed safe extraction method, they've removed most of the human beings from the process. Out West, they're doing it the old fashioned way with impoverished laborers. How TF has everyone strayed soooo far from reality? THIS is what they call clean??? We're not only opressed by big oil, we're oppresed by BIG COAL as well. OIL is not even used to make electricity, so blamimg the squashing of renewably generated electricity on big oil is stupid. Oil only drives the machinery used in extraction and transportation of the stuff. It's the coal companies who are buying out ALL of our politicians. THEY'RE the ones threatened by "green energy"! Mountaintop removal is used because it extracts the most coal with the fewest workers. Thus it is the cheapest. They don't give a fuck about the mountains, people, wildlife, streams...ect. If everyone invisioned a mountain being blown to peices every time they flipped a light switch maybe things would change...dream on. |

Buy a ton of coal (cost: $24) 2. Spray it with diesel 3. Sell it at a loss (40 cents on the dollar) 4. Hold your hand out for $26 per ton from the government in tax credits--for making an "alternative fuel." It made Marriott an estimated $120 million in 2002. |
