Due to medical conditions I had already begun to quit the smoking. The last pack I bought had the FSC on it and they tasted like do-do. When does the belching and that awful taste go away?

Actualy it is in the papers! all those rings around the ciggarette's paper are the parts with added chemicals to make the ciggarette's go out. It actualy has made them more dangerous to smoke and its estimated the deaths caused by smoking will increase now that they have these added "fire retardant" chemicals

Re: FSC Cigarettes
Can anyone tell me what the chemcial the put in the new FSC Cigarettes. I cannot find this info any where on the internet.

Hi e1 this is an email I got from a smoker thought you all needed to read this. I will not stop so hey help me out here. I got a call today from someone telling me to back off. I will not stop. I need your help. They can not get away with this!!!!!! Their threats do not scare me. I will go down fighting for all of us. Find out all you can.
Kay
Still fighting for our right to be heard.

Hi kay;
I think in my research I may have found out what's up with those cigarettes. They use an adhesive called ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer emulsion based adhesive. At least that it what one of the pattents for reduced ignition propensity cigarettes said was required. I looked up the chemical. It is the same adhesive used for glueing the backing on carpeting. It has shown to cause tumors in mice, but it is not know what it does to humans. Also, I read the metals such as aluminum are used to help keep the cigarette burning where the speed bumps aren't, or something like that. At any rate that explains the metal taste that I am left with. I think there is far more to this. I don't think they care at all about the 700-1000 lives that will be saved, or so they say will be saved. Also, the testing done did not prove conclusively that fsc would not ignite and start fires. What bothers me most is that the only testing done on these cigarettes was in relations to it fire safety. No tests were done as to the health risks created by the changing of the cigarettes. I also am very suspicious as to how they snuck this on us. We hardly heard anything at all about this till it went in to law. Another weird thing is that back in 2004-2005 I used to buy Marlboro's from an indian reservation in NY, they were cheaper. I noticed that the cigarettes went out, however, they did not have the smell, taste or affect that these FSC have now. I know now that the pilot test was done in NY. Everything in the passing of the FSC law was based on what happened in NY. But I can tell you, that the cigarettes in the pilot test in New York are NOT the same as the one's they are pawning off on us now. They changed them. I think we are being experimented on, against our knowledge and will, just as they did medical experiments on prisoners and children in the foster care system. No one cared about them to make a stink and now no one cares about the smoker because we have been made out to be evil bad people who are hated by the general populace. Anyway, as you can see, I am really pissed off about this whole thing. I wish there were something we can do. People are going to get very sick and some are going to die from these cigs. Anyway, gotta go to work. Thanks for Emailing me back. Nance
 Quoting: Kay 361592

And Yes it is ethylene vinyl acetate colypolymer used for carpet glue. I think they are using smokers as guinea pigs and especially would help the elite's NWO agenda of depopulation....you guys should do a little research on Agenda 21. What better way to start first on a bunch of smokers that the government and drug companies have lied about the second hand smoke to everyone. We are just a burden on society. We can't even smoke outside anymore so now they want to make millions of people sick to save 800 lives from fires. I really believe some people think that smokers do not even deserve to live...we are just a plague on society it seems and what bothers me the most about this is that we were not warned that this was coming and cigarette companies aren't even putting anything about it on the labels of the packs or cartons. Just the little FSC that I didn't even notice until I started complaining about the taste and having to keep relighting them.

Letter to tobacco companies

November 1, 2006

This past February I wrote to you urging you to help prevent needless deaths, injury and property destruction caused by cigarette-related fires by pledging that you will produce and sell only cigarettes with a reduced propensity to burn.

Since that time, the Coalition for Fire-Safe Cigarettes has worked with the fire service, public health advocates and political leaders across the country to seek the adoption of legislation in the states mandating that any cigarettes sold meet the New York standard. Six states, New York, California, Vermont, Illinois, New Hampshire and Massachusetts now have fire-safe cigarette laws in place.

The Coalition’s goal for next year is to see that fire-safe cigarette legislation is filed in the remaining 44 states. It is inevitable that mandates for fire-safe cigarettes will be in all 50 states before long; but every death caused by smoking that takes place between now and then could be prevented if the companies that manufacture cigarettes would act responsibly and switch all of their manufacturing to meet the New York standard now.

Each day that it takes to switch to this life-saving technology is another day of increased risk not only to smokers, their families and their neighbors but also to the firefighters who respond to fires that you could have prevented.

I call on you once again to provide the same protection to all of the public that you are required to provide in the six states that have already acted; and announce now that you will produce only fire-safe cigarettes. Until then, every child, adult and firefighter who loses their life to a cigarette-related fire will be as a result of your inaction.

UPDATE: October 25, 2007 -- NFPA applauds Reynolds American Inc. announcement of product-wide switch to fire-safe cigarettes.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

On November 1, 2006, James M. Shannon, NFPA President and CEO, sent a letter to the head of the three major tobacco companies in the United States, calling for them to produce only fire-safe cigarettes.

Read the full text of Mr. Shannon's letter (at right).

The letter was sent to:

Andrew Tisch, Chairman & CEO, Lorillard Tobacco Company
Louis C. Camilleri, Chairman and CEO of Altria Group, Inc.
Susan M. Ivey, Chairman, President, and CEO of Reynolds American, Inc.
The letter underscores the fact that six states -- New York, California, Vermont, Illinois, New Hampshire and Massachusetts -- already have fire-safe cigarette laws in place. "The Coalition’s goal for next year is to see that fire-safe cigarette legislation is filed in the remaining 44 states," said Mr. Shannon.

In February 2006, Mr. Shannon sent his first letter to the tobacco companies, asking them to produce and market only fire-safe cigarettes all across the country. Read his original letter and responses from the three tobacco companies below.

The bands that make the FSC cigarettes "FSC" are made with alginic acid, which is a natural starch.

Now, the (EVA) Ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer, or carpet glue, is what is used to glue the cigarette paper in place. It is what tobacco manufacturers have always used to hold the paper in place.

So don't bitch about the glue, if you've been smoking longer than the FSC cigarettes have been out, you've been smoking the glue this entire time. Bitch about the alginic acid.

You are talking to people here who have smoked for 20-30 years, and you are trying to tell us all that we are imagining the effects from the new FSC cigs.

You are most likely part of Obama’s new team that was established to infiltrate “conspiracy” websites and make posts to lead people away from resistance and into subservience.

Wow, buddy. I've been smoking for the last 10 years, and notice the taste difference. All I said was that the EVA (glue) everyone is pointing the finger at is not the culprit.. because the manufacturers have ALWAYS used that glue to glue the paper.

The ALGINIC ACID is what is used to make the bands around the paper that puts cigarettes out, they are like speed bumps.. shitty tasting speed bumps. Before you attack someone, you ought to actually READ what they typed before you start name calling and spewing really insane accusations. Asshole.

GLP users are schizophrenics with low IQ and they say there are differences in things even if you make up fake differences and invoke their placebo effect, let alone this cig issue. You can give them fake hoemopathic tablets and they will say there is a great difference in their condition and everyone is a shill. You can make up fake news stories and they will comment on them - they have a strong for of mental illness and arent real people, the exact opposite of a real and honest person.

they call solar systems galaxies and galaxies solar systems and mix up all kinds of terms. they say things like toxins cause hairloss when hairloss is gender specific to males, they say the sun has changed its position when it never has and sunset times are the same. They post list of cig chemicals usable and say they are all used at once in the same cig.

GLP is a cesspool of ignorant mentally retarded mentally ill people so far gone and disorganized in the brain and fucked in the head and totally incoherent, that you cant say anything, REAL FAR GONE, like a person on ten ambien tablets, totally incoherent.

I quit. Today is day 14.
Its just now starting to get a little bit easier as far as cravings go. Smoked for 29 yrs. In the time since they put the FSC smokes out , I have never had worse coughing, especially in the morning. Runny nose that lasts months etc.
Within days of quitting the morning cough went away and my nose stopped dripping.

I like this better and am saving tons of cash, although the FEDS probably miss my 2 carton a week spending habit.

Just keep in mind during the first few days that time is on your side.
The cravings cannot win because eventually they diminish in intensity and knowing that , it becomes a staring contest, sort of, and I'm very competitive. So I kinda looked at it from that viewpoint. Seems to have worked as I have never before been able to go longer than a day or two in the past.
Now I laugh at the occasional craving I get I get because they are very infrequent now and not intense at all. I am crushing them and taking my body and my behavior back!

I used to be on this forum but I forgot who I was and they forgot my email addy so here I am again new to the forum.
Hello...

I am on Day 8 of not smoking.

I used to buy a carton of Marlboro 100's every week,I was a driven cigarette smoker.I always said I would quit when packs went over $3 but that was so long ago I forgot that too.

About three weeks ago I noticed my cigarettes smelled funny, tastes funny and I was not getting the usual kick from them and besides that they kept going out.

When I relit they sorta made a little explosion and the cherrie top would fall off.

WTF?I asked.

Then I googled and lo and behold the government has yet again put more toxins in our cigarettes.

Just google FSC and see for yourself

They call them FSC and as of January 2010 that is all they are selling.

Of course you can roll your own but I use my rolling machine in other ways and am not using to roll cigarettes.

For about $45 you can get a Joye510 starter kit -- 2 e-cigs so one is charging while you use the other. You can buy menthol "juice." I suggest you get a bottle of 24 mg/ml nicotine, and a bottle of 12 mg/ml, and use that.

The eGo is available from JantyUSA.com, and is about $85. If you have the money, this is probably the best to start.

I second the recommendation by TC that you read on e-cigarette-forum.com for good advice and suggestions.

My favorite and cheap supplier for the Joye510 is mypvshop.com -- but this is a suggestion only. The important thing is that you try the e-cig to see if it will help you quit tobacco. It has made all the difference in the world to me. I never thought I would be able quit tobacco.

anyone know whether the roll your own tubes are FSC yet? it seems pretty likely to happen if they can get the PACT act through.

ALL CUSTOMERS: PLEASE READ!!!

please sign the petition below:(click below)

[link to www.thepetitionsite.com]

The Prevent All Cigarette Trafficking Act of 2009 ("PACT Act") (S.1147) was scheduled for consideration by the Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday, November 19th. This legislation contains, among other bad ideas, a provision which would make ALL cigarettes, RYO and smokeless tobacco products nonmailable. This bill has already been passed by the House and by the Senate Judiciary Committee, and is now going to the full Senate floor for a vote at any time!
By making all cigarettes, RYO and smokeless tobacco products nonmailable, this law means you will no longer be able to purchase these products by mail-order, telephone order, or on the Internet, because the United States Postal Service, along with UPS, Fed-Ex and all other carriers will be prohibited by law from delivering your orders to you. Taking away your options means forcing you back to buying over-priced tobacco products from your local retailer. Let your Senators know that you don't want this!
If you wish to preserve your rights and freedoms, you have to make your opinion known and your voice heard. Contact your Senators today and tell them to vote NO on S.1147, the "PACT Act"!
