It's sad that religion has trained yall to believe that the only time that the world will come together is because of EVIL. Religion has trained you to think that God is Death. I haven't read this whole thread but there are a lot of different opinions on the end times (eschatology) - about when believers will be taken out of the earth, etc.
Many evangelical churches have a view of the emminent return of Christ - that there are no pre-conditions that have to be met, no checklist to watch, no temple to be built, no head wounds, elections or coronations.
The time table was created at the beginning of time and the forces and objectives have already been set in motion - regardless of human activity or efforts to speed or halt it.
I personally believe that we are closer than we have ever been to the fulfillment of the prophecies of the Bible. I believe the environment is in chaos (tsunamis, hurricanes, tornadoes, etc) just as Jesus predicted it would be. War and political unrest grow greater each day. As a rule, people are self-absorbed and care only about their own pleasure. Their only thought is evil all the time. (This is what God said about the people of earth before he destroyed them all with a flood and saved Noah & his family)
There are some things about Obama that are very dangerous and that concern me greatly (as are there with John McCain). But it is ridiculous to try to scan the headlines and make them fit with the prophecies of the Bible. People have been doing that for generations and many religious movements/cults have been built on these phoney-baloney predictions.
God is moving in the hearts of his people. Our job is to listen to the words He speaks to our hearts. We can pray for wisdom in our voting decisions - and we should - but the ultimate outcome - antichrist or not - is not in our hands.
Our safety in times of trouble is NOT in being kind to others or in going to church or taking communion (though those things are commanded by God and they are essential). Our only salvation is in faith in Christ - the true Messiah of Israel and the world.
Going back to the idea of Noah and the Ark:
The Ark did not save Noah and his family. Noah's faith saved him - faith in the God who told him to build the ark because a flood was coming.

however, i agree with the post above.
you can waste your time pointing out possible "anti-christs", but the truth is you probably wouldn't know know the truth until it was upon you.
if you're so worried about anti-christs and end times, perhaps you should read the bible.
also... just for fun...
i kind of always figured people would point out the beast as the one who the jews regarded as their messiah. made sense to me, anyway. or not. just a thought. |

i read that book "left behind" that was so popular a while back. That was my love comment, BTW. This is the other one. I am a white male, and I grew up in post-apartheid South Africa. As a child, in school, and at home, I was tought to believe racist "facts" about certain people. And a young mind is susceptible to indoctrination. Transformation came, gracefully, but still, it took me years to realise just how much I had been brainwashed. How much I had been lied to. I've grown to love my land, and all the people that live here. I have made some amazing friends in the process. And I will never leave. The hatred and racism that I have encountered on the Net is an order of magnitude more ignorant and cruel than I have ever seen in this country of my birth. Obama is a politician, so he is probably corrupt on some level, but don't lay that at the feet of his skin color. You don't have to love any politician, but come on, give the man a chance. Anybody who believes Obama is an 'anti-christ' is childish and ridiculously mislead. Furthermore, anybody who believes that three sixes are 'evil' is at the height of stupidity.
Stop trying to bring Obama down because he is a different religion, a different color, or grew up in Chicago (again, ridiculous). Pay attention to the things that actually matter, such as his policies on different areas of interest, his intellect, and his outstanding ability to lead.
Once you begin actually looking at the facts and start seeing Obama (and McCain) for what they intend to do for this country, rather than what they personally believe or where they grew up, then you may finally begin to make an educated decision on who you want to lead our country. |
