50 MILLION POUND CHALLENGE QUESTION.....
www.50millionpounds.com/the_challenge/default.aspx

Can anyone out there assuage my fears about joining this on-line weight challenge program? The fact that it is run by an MD and financially supported by State Farm Insurance makes me nervous. Especially in a time when Big Insurance is already deeply delving into the backgrounds of every potentially insured to preclude them from coverage. So why would I give up my identifying info, weight, height and other medical history to join this on-line weight loss group? I have done some research on the internet about this challenge, but have found nothing negative about it.

Maybe there is nothing negative about it, but it just makes me nervous to see large groups of people supplying their identifying info for on-line help....when in all probability such a group can be of little assistance in the individual battle.

At worst, couldn't this company be compiling a databank about the participants to be furnished to other insurance companies for marketing purposes? Any ideas anyone on why this would not be a wise move to join this group?

Do you get anything out of it if you succeed in losing weight , like lower insurance premiums or anything ?

No ?

Re: 50 MILLION POUND CHALLENGE QUESTION.....
the motivation for the insurance company is savings....so much of our health issues here in the us are related to our sedentary lifestyle....obesity brings a long list of health problems with it...the tv shows us as being populated by beautiful people, but take a walk in a walmart....we even have fat homeless people!! i wouldnt worry too much about the potential abuse of your info, and if it really bothers you, give false info( like that neighbor that has that dog that keeps you awake).....good luck losing the gut!!!
