Re: Ever taken Datura? Discuss :)
Yeah man, i tried Datura for the first time yesterday. I smoked 6 bowls and had some intense lucid dreaming. I also wrote a bad ass sample track called "Datura". I wouldn't recommend Datura for recreational usage, however, it wouldn't hurt to smoke a bowl before bed. Its def a DREAM herb in small doses. I would not recommend ANYONE to try this in tea form. I also would not recommend ANYONE to eat a leaf.

You are no longer in control in large doses. No difference between 2 flowers & popping down 24 Dramamine Pills.

I have alot of experiance with datura meteloides is a close relative of datura stominium it also contains scolpamine and atropine the anti cholernigenic chemicals that cause the dilusional effects it is not worth experimenting with it is a very dangerous plant many people I went to high school with ended up in mental hospitols with wild plants it is very difficult to determine dosages as the concentrations of these alkaloids can very greatly from soil typew and minerals within the soil take my advise stay away from this one unless u have trained in its use under an experianced shaman

Not only is it incredibly dangerous, most of the experiences people have lead to horribly terrifying hallucinations, wetting themselves, and ending up in the hospital, or arrested.

I would not recommend this drug to any psychonaut.

If you don't believe me, go to Erowid, and read some of the experiences.

Good advice. Datura is definitely not for the uninitiated.

LOL....the Indians gave it to their young teen boys BECAUSE it had that effect. The boys would turn about 13 and start getting "too big for their britches" so-to-speak. Their dads took them out into the woods and gave them some Datura concoction. The end desired result was a boy that was so happy to survive the horrifying night that he would become a man who had tasted death and needed no more a part of it. So, needless to say, unlike many of the other psychedelics taken by ancient cultures for spiritual benefit, the whole purpose of the datura was to scare the living shit out of someone.

Re: Ever taken Datura? Discuss :)
It induces delirium, the most intense form of fear you can experience. A constant sense of impending doom accompanied with visual and audio hallucinations of your greatest subconscious fears. I've read it's a waking nightmare. I hear Benadryl (DPH) at the 600mg dose gives a similar experience. Not that I know any of this from experience. I'm far too pussy to try these drugs. I've only read because I enjoy to push it to the limit with other less scary substances. One day I will try datura and all I know is you need supervision. The person you absolutely trust the most in this world to supervise the trip or you most likely will end up harming yourself.

Re: Ever taken Datura? Discuss :)
Here's what happens (in my experience at least):

Effects appear out of no where and you don't notice it like you notice other drugs.

It smacks your brain into a completely different gear, you don't know you're fucked up even though you are seeing some crazy shit. This is delirium.

I thought I was talking to a friend of mine when I was actually sitting in front of the mirror for an hour talking to myself. At 3am I started folding socks in the living room. Had to deal with terrified parents. Had the most nonsensical conversation.

Anyway, you wake up the next morning and your vision is fucked, you can't read the words in a book or anything really. You can't see the hair on your arms or the lines on the palms of your hands. This lasts for about 6-12 hours after you've already stopped tripping.

Food tastes as shitty and sour as they datura you drank for about a day.

I developed hand tremors from this, and will never do it again.

I know it may sound fun or intense from reading up on erowid but honestly this is not the type of psychedelic experience anyone should have. Get some lsd or shrooms it's not worth it.

Check this out.

Don't take the risk. Chances are it'll fuck you up big time. Stay with real psychedelics and not with deliria.

I've done dram+ another psychedelic (which will stay unnamed!), both at about 300mgs...I could tell the dram was really trying to take over the trip...I would never recommend it, or anything similar, even in a light dose. I witnessed entities flying across the room and my friend's blanket turning into all sorts of insects in real time...right in front of your eyes...but it was slight enough- because I was not on a full dillusional dose....all i probably needed was 100 more mgs and those slight dillusions would have been full force.

There is a huge difference between psychic visions/hullucinations and dillusions...I've been into everything psychic my whole life, obe's, clairvoyance, remote viewing (to a degree, because I am an 'involuntary' psychic, I let things happen randomly and never meditate, etc) and everything - dillusions are not like most any psychic or hullucinigenic activity I've ever experienced. You don't want to have this experience. My buddy back then got me way to into psychedelics, and I both praise him and vilify him in my own mind for it...

I still think everything in moderation- except for dileriants...never do them.

I like reading about it sometimes for the mystery.
Would never try it.
I've tried morning glory before. Similar to mesc.
But even then I didn't really enjoy it.
The height of my trip was when I felt like I wanted to puke.

2nd, it is on the Denver Airport Mural, for a reason. Death.

Re: Ever taken Datura? Discuss :)
Here's an excerpt from a random erowid entry on datura:

...

"About four hours after taking the dose the trip started getting hallucinatory. I was drinking lots of water to offset the dehydration to no avail, and going to the bathroom often. But urinating was difficult and not very effective. The bathroom looked normal but when I looked down into the toilet, the water was covered with a layer of gelatine with rainbow highlights. Occasionally I saw small ticks on the wall and upon closer look they were spiders.

By about 11 pm my roommate, jenny, was asleep and I was tripping hard but didn't necessarily realize it. Everything was very dream-like and during one of my journeys to the bathroom, I saw jenny there, sitting on the toilet with the lid closed, looking at me. We stared at each other for a long time and I looked down momentarily and when I looked up at her, she wasn’t there – never had been.

So began a series of hallucinations. In the house’s second bathroom, I saw jenny standing next to me, looking at me. I turned to her and resolved to muster a reassuring smile but when I turned I realized that I what I had really been looking at was my own reflection in the mirror. I was very alarmed and thought, “this is madness,” but my reflection was wearing the placid smile I had put on for Jenny and my calm expression was somewhat reassuring."

Don't touch it. It causes permanent damage to your optical nerves. Foolishly took it 30 years ago, and have been sensitive to bright sunlight ever since. I know of people who have gone blind for days after. nasty shit.
If you want to do the Don Juan thing you have to use the root and prepare it properly. Don't use the flowers or seeds.
The trip is wierd and not recommended.

The only person I know took some many years ago after "visiting a botanical garden"ended up cutting his lawn at 2am,I did not know it affected your optical nerves neither did he . His neighbours were none to pleased:)I wish I could tell him but he is no longer with us he "fell off a balcony in Thailand"-alledgedly.

dancing with the universal paradigm of shivanism forever in a state of total blackened delirium while trying to figure out how da fuck to reach out to something that isnt even there - then standing at the edge of vertigo going step by fall and roller coasting down the pit of righteousness and being blind for some days , yes thats whatll do somehow , if however you are potent enough to cooperate with the spirit, you might get lucky. 100 seeds plus recommended

Re: Ever taken Datura? Discuss :)
A long time ago ... Maybe around three decades ago.

My friend (!) tried it - twice.

First time he was given a tea made out of six flowers. A knowledgeable pair cut the flowers, put them in a pan of water and then boiled it down to a thick black liquid - which was added to hot water and honey - then drank.

30 minutes later some strange effects began. It was fortunate the pair who cooked up the flowers had agreed to watch over the user until he straightened out ... it took three days.

He actually doesn't remember much about that first try. He remembers mostly that h couldn't read a newspaper for three days because everything was out of focus and had a blue haze around it. Lots of hallucinations, but he can't recall much of that time.

He tried it a few years later on his own. I think he used five flowers and made them into a tea like he was shown before.

He spent all night opening the door to people who weren't there. They kept knocking but every time he went to the door there was no one.

The cupboard doors kept opening on their own, and he could see them opening and hear them. But the lights were off. The lights were off but all the lights were fully on in his mind.

People spoke with him all through the night, but they weren't there.

The fridge door opened by itself and this time the room was dark, and the room was lighted by the automatic fridge door light - but it was only a dream. The fridge opened and the sounds of the soft heat insulation as the door closed was all there - the cold air coming out when the door was open.

The police knocked at the door, then came in while he was in bed trying to sleep. They left - but they weren't really ever there.

Hey! That stuff's a nightmare! He never tried it since.

However, he has often considered making an ointment out of it and using it like the witches are supposed to have done.

The alkaloids are absorbed through the skin - especially sensitive areas, and it seems the more harmful of the drugs don't pass the skin barrier but the parts that give you a trip do.

He isn't confident he knows enough about how to make a safe ointment from it, and as he now has responsibilities, he doesn't want to invalidate himself because others depend on him. - But if he is reasonably confident an ointment can be used without creating problems then it might be a goer.

Some people say they can get hallucinations by holding onto the leaves. I've heard of people eating the seeds and of people smoking the leaves. I think eating the seeds is extremely dodgy, but smoking it might be manageable - in careful and limited doses with people around who can lend a hand if things get crazy.

It's wild stuff.
